Bit of a mess this one, Tbh I just want to treat my self to a new bike. Already ordered the XT crank and now looking for new frame to replace my cheap looking and Fugly 18" Summer season Raw. weight is an issue at 5.5lbs etc.

But the postives are that I can ride faster or atleast stay up with guys on there big bouncers for example at Cmcarn decent and fly up the hills.
So on reflection this is whast has happened the last two weeks.

Going for an Orange Crush 2010 but out of stock
Tried to get a TI summer season from Brant which failed with lots for exotic lanuage when someone outbid me in the last 3 seconds!
Now looking at the Summer season in orange....
or the Kinesis Maxlight XC 120 but will have 140mm forks (they have alittle sag)

Kinesis Maxlight XC 120 has the weight advantage but can I rag it down the mountain!? as I do with the Summer season? Plus Im going to Morzine in July and thought steel would be able to cope, could the Maxlight XC 120?

Again weight is the only issue with the summer season, so if steal i see no reason not to get the SS in orange paint. part of this is a looks thing. its driving me nutts.

My 2nd hand xc120 does, I like it a lot. I got 125 forks BB a little low so can hook up but great cornering/steep downs. 140mm may prop it up a little more (a whole 15mm!) without wrecking the steering. I use dual and bashring wouldn't run a triple.

no idea tbh but i wouldnt want to personally do morzine on an alu hardtail with forks that are any bigger than the frames recommended travel (snapping head tubes off comes to mind) but then i have no idea about that kinisis frame

How much do you and the bike combined weigh? Is 1-2 lbs really going to make that much of a difference? Do you race?

If your current frame ticks all the boxes other than it looks cheap and ugly, it's not worth changing it for the sake of 1lb in frame weight.

Treat yourself to a new paintjob and a lighter wheel/tyre set or some lighter forks.

Exactly what I plan on doing, may be I should get some muscles and "man up"

Thanks for the good advice.
