Finally bought most of the parts for my singlespeed build, and had a go at installing a tubeless system without any luck.
I used the method shown on Stans website - using soap around the tyre, and pumping with a track pump. However as it is a brand new tyre[s] there are gaps between the rim and tyre, and air simply escapes it. I do not have a compressor.
Should I put some extra rim tape? Now it has the yellow one. The tyres went on quite easily without the need for tyre levers.
Thanks!
Some door frame sealant in the well of the rim helps
Inflate the tyre with a tube in it. Leave for a while so the tyre shapes to the rim. Remove tube and do the tubeless fandango.
Good idea sslowpace - off to try it ๐
cheers
i found with ralphs a couple of weeks of riding them had really let them take the shape of the rim.
total faff to try and get up when new - when they were worn in - went up on my own with a track pump - in less than one beer.
Dont forget to leave the inner tube in as well you crazy fool!!!
friday thinking about Lee Quarry as a possibility you interested?
Parts ordered for suspension bike so if they arrive tomorrow you can have a play on it - e-mail me.
I just go around the tyre pulling both sidewalls out, never failed yet on about 10 pairs of Schwalbe tyres.
