Ouch, Bet Merthyr A&E were welcoming, they appear to love English MTBers.

Now, how about some explicit detail on the mad skillz that led to this?

And GWS obviously

Looks kind of like my Sunday morning in risca! Except replace wrist with ribs! Crashing 20 seconds into the first trail is not the way to go!
Hope you heal quick!

On the bright side = Brilliant thread. On the negative side = you broke yourself.

Two things: How is the bike, and did you manage to ride up more than once (Im assuming the uplift is not working)

Gauging your trajectory from the illustration, it looks like you may have cased the upslope before the landing. Nasty.

Get well soon.

Look on the bright side, at least you weren't the driver for the trip! Love the little cartoon representation, simple and effective.

Ouch, Bet Merthyr A&E were welcoming, they appear to love English MTBers.

They like anyone who is cooperative unlike a lot of the locals!! A MTBer with dented pride and worrying about their bike fared is heaven for them compared to dealing with the local druggie for the 3rd time that week.

Ouch, hope you heel quickly.

The older you get the less you bounce.

This is probably why gravel riding is getting so popular. Can't afford time off work or not being able to take care of the kids.

Its made me take the chicken run more than once when I'd have not even considered it a few years ago.

Glad the bikes ok

Looking at the diagram I think your front rim was broken even before you landed - no wonder you crashed!!😀

Get well soon.

I can read "some sort of mad skillz" on your picture up there. With writing like that, are you really a doctor?

Only heard second hand from here, but it seems the bikers are the politest and amazingly, the best smelling, "customers" of Merthyr A+E, and usually with an easily solvable problem.

I always figure that insinuating A&E don't like injured people is a bit like saying anyone doesn't like their job. Like a plasterer who doesn't like walls or a gardener who hates lawns.

If you didn't like fixing injuries they'd go work in some other specialty surely!

Personally I like to think I brighten their days slightly with my weird mishaps, frostbite in July was a particular highlight 😁🥶

frostbite in July

Not wishing to hijack the thread but you can’t leave that without an explanation!

Just based on a friends experience.  Maybe it was someone from outside the area taking up resources that prompted the frosty (sorry) reception rather than the fact he was injured.  Or maybe it was his charm...
