Which couldn't be less northern...
Saturday just gone.
The silver handlebars - did they come off your mom's shopper? ๐
Liking the Hovis 'aged' look at the begining.
Does anyone have a name for that trail coming down from Pecket Well to the Hardcastle Crags car park? It looked a bit steady to be honest - best enjoyed at high speeds, that trail.
Those bars are twenty quid specials from 13 years ago, don't knock them they have served me well
Can't watch the vid at work but the trail (depending on which one it is) is called Peckett Well A or B. Catchy name eh?
Fortunateson - we're steady cos with setting the camera you don't have chance to build up a head of steam. Set camera, push up just out of shot, ride... Plus we'd just pushed all the way up from the bottom so we were knackered
๐
Nice to see "nice and sensible" riding for once instead of fancy skids and wheelies ๐
Good vid.
We can't do skidz and wheeliez
๐ณ
Oh dear. Sorry Pook, gotta say it but I didn't think it was very good ๐
Awful music. Pushing through Heptonstall at the start (WTF?), nothing to excite me.
Have a look for the videos by Yorkshire Lad who sometimes posts on here to see how its done.
Plus your rides must be knackering and dead short if all you do is run up and down stuff videoing yourself?
DaveyBoyWonder it was a nice bit of fun. Although I rode up from Hep to the top. Its bloody hard if you do it with no warm up whatsoever at the start of ride.
thanks for the comments DaveyBoy as I say - all welcome.
Awful music? Personal preference I guess. Relaxed track reflected a relaxed ride - guess you had to be on it to know that though. Oh, and the Hovis music. Bit of fun taking the mic out of the push up in Hep.
No, our rides aren't knackering nor dead short. Sometime they're long and filmed. Maybe I'm just quite fit. ๐
Can't find any of Yorkshire Lad's vids online I'm afraid. I'll happily be "shown how it's done" though. Please feel free to link to one for me.
Looking at that vid though I do need to drop some weight and leave out the Curly Wurlys ๐
yeah your parkour would improve no end..... ๐
no link top a vid DaveyBoy?
Think these are the fellas DBW is referring to:
aha - nice. Some lovely shots in those.
The joys of having a viewfinder and zoom eh? It'd be lovely if i could see what I was actually filming ๐

Proper soul music too - nice!
that hora's one sexy homeboy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ๐ฏ
Oh, and it looks like it was filmed with a phone. Sorry, I love watching riding videos, especially home grown ones and even more especially ones from where I live. Doesn't show Calderdale riding in its best light ๐
Want a nice warm up Hora? We often start a ride with the climb from the Co-Op to Horsehold. And then drop down and climb up through Callis Woods. And pushing is punished by death...
Nice vid (Norgates). Does this mean if I personally film something I have to have it quality-checked first before I can post it up? ๐

Not only did I push up that hill but I stopped more than once for a breather as well. Who cares? I had a laugh even though I'm not as awesome as you.
Your snobish attitude doesn't show calderdale residents at their best
Doesn't show Calderdale riding in its best light
I think it looks great, and I'd be happy to ride with hora, pook and thepodge because it looks like a bit of a laugh! That other vid, sure looks nice, but the riding is never anything I'd achieve and I probably wouldn't enjoy it. pook's vid gets my thumbs up for the inspiration ๐

Just a correction- We started the ride from the Turning circle and rode straight up to the top of the cobbles in Hep. Thats hard as a warmup at the beginning isn't it! We did 3 of these such climbs in that vid. Slow but it got us to the nice bits ๐
One thing to note- riding down the face/top back down to the turning circle again- you know where you turn hard right rather than bringing you out by the pub? (no idea on its name) - someone had lodged large stones across the singletrack which meant podge had a faceplant. If he had tried jumping them he'd have taken his head off with a lowish large branch. ****s who did that ๐ฏ
cheers kit - that's why i do them!
Yeah we moved the stones but it won't stop someone doing it again so keep em peeled people
got to agree with davey boy i hate been negative but its a little dull.
been a hebdenite im blessed with a good local knowledge .
stubbing wharf thursday 7.30pm there is always a ride from there for anyone wanting to see how its done stw guys attend so never sure if its an open invite & they probably always think who this riding with us but they always seem happy for me to tag on .
i don,t always attend as i ride a different town every thursday to cover all areas our group is from .
it's this "wanting to see how it's done" i don't get.
surely, "how it's done" is however you bloody well like to, as long as it's on a bike and you're having fun???
Perhaps I've been riding my bike incorrectly for the past 25 years.
stubbing wharf thursday 7.30pm
I'm not sure if I can. I promised to marry two Hebdenites daughters and I changed my mind and left with the Dowries...
There are currently men on horses roaming the hills looking for me ๐ฏ
Good effort mate. Enjoyed that!
Hora, you need s few more Nan Bields to get the weight down ๐ ๐
I do need to drop some weight. **** knows how. Guess the redwine and beer has to go ๐
cheers lowey
Guess the redwine and beer has to go
I packed in the red wine during the week last year and its fallen off me. Seriously.
Pook, i like it. Its always fun riding out with you lot, even Hora!!! ๐
Not only did I push up that hill but I stopped more than once for a breather as well. Who cares? I had a laugh even though I'm not as awesome as you.
As a fellow pusher from "The Great Band of Pushers", we'll push up or down anything. Its all about getting out there with like minded people and having a laugh.
And while your mate might have a nice flash camera (and make a good film) it looks like it suffers with condensation...its all misty round the edges!!! ๐
Lowey I think I need to follow suit. I love redwine. Too much. Its made me slightly 'round' looking at the edges. Just a tad but allover and just enough to present alot to carry on rides.
Right. No more redwine midweek (or weekends for a while) or Rum.
Switch back to Vodka.
Ps. Talking of pushing up- I want to do a uplift day soon somewhere if anyone has any ideas?
hora - where exactly is this stone booby trap?
Nice vid, looks like you had some fun!
Highly envious of anyone who is getting out on the bike at the moment!
hora - where exactly is this stone booby trap?
If you carry on straight for an extra 20-30m's the trail spits you out alongside the Fox & Goose Inn: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&gl=uk&q=the%20fox%20%26%20goose%20inn%20hebden%20bridge&cr=countryUK%7CcountryGB&oq=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl
If you suddenly take a hardright though before that- its just there- under the petrified tree. Big blocks of stone set at circa 45degrees so even if there were low-hanging trees you'd have to manual then possibly bail.
I am *sure* that section is a grey area at worse and not a footpath?
If someone wanted to cause harm they really do need to get out abit more.
If it is a footpath then anyone who has ridden with me will atest to the fact that I am friendlier to walkers than I am to riders. My Mums a walker you see.
Your video absolutely sums up what real mountainbiking is all about .
Honest .
Ace .
I need to get up there . Looks good . Being northern me'sen , ahd at fot come on one er me owd bikes , ur something . what's reckon owd lad ?
Whoa . I say . what happened there old bean ?
Eh . Tha con tek lad owt o Worsley mesnes , but tha wain't tek Worsley Mesnes arht ut lad .
Is that the Bialetti i can hear bubbling?
Or is it babby's yed ?
Mind you , now I'm all ' cosmo ' I sound more like Paul Calf .
How cosmo's that ?
If arsed , have a look at my ' spikeybike ' videos on that popular video hosting site . ( other video hosting sites are available ).
1 + 2 are a bit slow burning , but 3 + 4 were a bit better .
I just strap an old mobile to the handlebars . Vintage silver , as it happens .
Anyway . yea , dead good .
Like .
I hate the internet . I'm supposed to be washing up. This is how it starts , then later I get the " I AM GOING TO BED " routine ....
looking at the OS its a footpath but it was clearly placed to cause more than just an obstruction.

I think Hora is refering to the footpath sometimes known as Tron, someones been building 'stone' walls on the lower section for the last couple of weeks as well as putting up caustic no bike signs. Night riders watch out!
dale, the big pieces of hairy streaks of piss IMO ๐
The problem seems to be certain sensitive trails getting well known and the ensuing heavy traffic getting people's backs up.
Dave- Ive never seen another rider on any trails apart from people passing me on their way up to the Crags.
(Actually- last weekend I saw a few full-faced kids through the trees throwing stones into the river at Bluepig).
Pook/Podge - on the two occassions we were out at the weekend how many riders did you see away from the main 'drag'? (Considering Pecket is a well known and marked Bridleway).
I suspect, and i could be wildly wrong (it has happened) but im guessing its a local who for years has walked their dog there of an evening and as you say had been met my increased traffic, possibly night riders with super powerful lights, and they've got a bit cheesed off.
anyway, as you can see from the vid, i survived

What down to that cheap looking aftermarket estate at the end of said path by any chance? yellow-stoned horrible thing.
what relevance does the type of housing have?
could be anyone in that area
what relevance does the type of housing have?
Maybe generalising but Calderdale has some stunning natural looking homes. I don't like the eggshell-coloured homes around the turning circle in the slightest. Sorry.
could be anyone in that area
True, however people who buy a generic new home especially with the houses in the area on offer must be narrow-minded ****
Sameway with Outlane etc- why live in a nice area and buy a awful townie-ugly-house-generic-circa 1985-Wimpey-house?
Pook, I liked your video. A nice chilled ride. Looked like a lot of fun.
True, however people who buy a generic new home especially with the houses in the area on offer must be narrow-minded ****
You, sir, are an almighty arse, and I claim my five pounds.
barney- why live away from the urban sprawl and then buy/live in a generic box on a generic estate? Madness.
(Spend your five pound on some nice Curly Wurlys and a bottle of pop) ๐
Ace vid, one assumes DBW has his own videos that are better then??
As for the "northern" thing, to me (north of the border) you are southern - a mistake I made recently when asking a chap if he was from down south the withering look I received when he said Manchester was priceless...
barney- theres likely to be change though. So could I have it back? Money doesnt grow on trees.
On a general note though. Isn't it great to be a Yorkshireman? My poor ****er of son is going to be a Manc ๐
funny tags - re: critics and trench - I've not once moaned about negative comments - just for the record.
๐
why live away from the urban sprawl and then buy/live in a generic box on a generic estate?
hora, some people don't want to take on the burden of an old house. When buying new or indeed 'new' you know what you're getting and in most cases you simply move your stuff in and thats it. Old places require more maintainance or work to get them to an acceptable standard. You can't blame people for wanting to live in a nice area and have the luxury of a new house.
The guy making the descent much more interesting actually lives in one of the OLD terrace houses across the road, so massive fail there Hora ๐
The guy making the descent much more interesting actually lives in one of the OLD terrace houses across the road, so massive fail there Hora
So why is he that bothered?! ...hang on. Its time on his hands, nothing else to do so he probably sits in a chair infront of his window waiting to see what the world is doing to him..
On those houses- I just dont like them....I went off on a tangent ๐
Yep hes one of those types!
But somebody going too fast on a bike had a near miss with a small child down there, im not sure it was his but he seems to have taken it upon himself to [s]waste his life[/s] make it difficult to ride!
But somebody going too fast on a bike
๐ Well we are safe in the knowledge that it couldn't have been me ๐ ๐
