... is that normal when they're new?
Do they loosen up with a bit of use (I have them at 90psi, the AirGuide says 120 which would make them about as soft as a baseball bat!)
Something to do with new seals needing to be broken in? Or are they likely to need some lube, after being on a warehouse shelf ever since they were manufactured?
My SID's were a bit 'sticky' till they'd had some use. I don't expect they'll need any lube - I've recently fitted some new '07 model year forks (Fox not that it would matter), and they're fine despite five years on a shelf! HTH
ta, I'll work on the principle of DFWAB** for a bit then. I can hear lubey-type noises in them anyways.

personally I would drop the lowers and change the lube oil in the lowers and lube the foam rings.
Air pressure guides are only a guide. whatever works for you is the right figure
Sounds to me like you have the rebound adjusted to high.Right fork leg at the bottom, just turn it anti clockwise.
I lube my seals after every ride, then wipe off the excess.
Are you running the same pressure pos and neg? You dont have to but i find if i run the neg chamber with more than 10% les than the pos chamber they feel a bit sticky.
I'm with Chainslap on this one, rebound too high. Adjust as necessary when breaking them in.
I would check the oil in the lowers. I've had two sets with very little oil in when new. I think it should have about 15ml in each leg.
Nah rebound is just 3-4 'clicks' back from full rabbiit. It's not too high.
mjsmke I am running -ve about 10 higher than +ve on the grounds that makes them 'plusher'.
It's mostly just "running in" I think, how long does it take usually?
I'll ride them a bit more before jumping to conclusions perhaps.
bob no, oil is just 5ml of 15wt btw. So very little is right.
My sektors are always slurpy for a bit after I replace the damping oil, and the stickiness is probably the seals getting bedded in. As they're new I wouldnt worry about it.
Update: I dropped the lowers off these last night, there was lube in the legs but the foam rings and around were 90% dry, and the foam rings were kinked too, so am glad I did. I replaced the rings with lubed ones, and added some grease, defo made a difference.
It is a joke, but all my new RS forks have been almost dry from the box!
