is that a 29er or are you the same height as kim jong il ? ๐Ÿ˜‰

scratch just saw the 29er in the title .... its getting harder to tell from photos these days - no wacky headangles or bent tubes to get it all in there

Looks ace!
(although with all the custom paint options Nicolai do, it's a little boring).

Badly phrased, what was the reason for a change- is this different to that last one?

Is that Ex Dipper or Pilot?

Looks better than Kermit the Christmas tree IMHO... but I am rather biased about black Nicolai's ๐Ÿ˜‰

This must mean the Ion 29ers are on the way... 8)

2014 geometry only 0.nowt different but it makes all the difference ๐Ÿ™‚ As proved bikes with the wrong angles explode and can't be ridden by anyone.

Heads off to check best before date on current bikes.

Kermit is way nicer, not knocking your new bike as I'm sure it's amazing, there's just something I don't like about it which I can't quite put my finger on.

Which mass produced in Taiwan Specialized frame in particular does this (or any other) work of engineering genius Nicolai look like?

Have you ever seen one up close or ridden one?

I think you are selling them very short indeed.

no idea but the short stem [50mm] and wide bars [800mm] are just too extreme.

back to my 750mm's on 70mm stem methinks.

no need for pinion - XX1 is simply brilliant....

weiging in at 29lb give or take dependant on calibration of scales.

will lose a lb once i get my carbon wheels and consider tyre selection.

It's Dippers. Mine has gone to an ex STW staffer. It's really nice. I'm rather partial to the black.
@Metalheart, mine (the_pilot aka chainline) has a -1.5 angleset in it and 150mm fork. part from that pretty much the same frame. Rides sweet. Munches both miles and gnarr. Ideal for ooop North.

And yes...eons before Specialized. As was the Ion in conception..

Enjoy it TLR.

It's nice, but:

They've forgotten to put the front mech on - schoolboy error really.
Bet they charged you for it too, bloody shysters.

They've done a good job with the primer. What colour will it be when it's painted? ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm no lover of black. I prefer kermit myself, but the revised geometry and the px was a clincher.

Cool.

I also got a new Nicolai this weekend. It's everything I'd hoped it would be, absolutely delighted with it.

Yeti man, BB is higher than on the std Nicolai ST so there won't be any trouble with pedal strikes ๐Ÿ˜‰

ST effective angle is 73deg in that configuration but the ST itself is offset by 40mm meaning it looks much slacker but isn't. nNicolai don't do bent tubes so its a different way of achieving what most other manufacturers do by hydroforming. Nicolai think that weakens the structure too much. Which is why it makes the seat angle look different even though its likely horizontal.

well it got a proper run tonight over some of my favoured local trails.
it hides it's weight surprisingly well [@29lbs ish], rides nice, no pedal strikes, stable but bars remain crazy wide at 800mm, although i'm getting more familiar with them.

the TALAS is defunct, but I'll perserver on steeper climbs with it and see if I need it or if a FLOAT would be more appropriate.

neither the SA or HA are issues but it does ride SOLIDLY !

not too dirty out there bizzarely, heres a dirtier pic :

really impressed so far with the XX1, but the best thing about it is the sheer silence........... not even a mechanical squeak or whisper - silent !
