I've changed the batteries 3 times in the HR strap.
Is it a common fault?
you need to sweat more.
Is your heart still working?
Is it slipping? Not tight enough?
Keep the strap wet with saliva/sweat and nice and snug.
Are you turning into a zombie? Sounds like it's a contact thing. If you stop and adjust the monitor strap does it start working again? Is it after 10 minutes every time, or more like 'after a short bit of running it stops'? If the latter then I think of things in this order skin contact, battery movement (contact) or transmitter/receiver 'interference'. If you bought it in a specialist shop, pop in. They're usually eager to share their expert knowledge of equipment and sports tips.
I had this problem. Its the strap, I replaced it with a polar wearlink strap which performed much better. Think it was about £12 so well worth trying.
I have found the guy on the Garmin UK help desk very helpful on several occassions (factory resets, loosing satellites, screen blanking), the number should be in your users instructions.
will polar strap work with garmin? this type (this may not work - trying to the URL thing)
link?
I'll try garmin helpdesk too.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
lesanita, I think that link also includes the transmitter. You should only need a strap, and then clip your Garmin transmitter to it like this one...

Mine is a Garmin 800, so I guess you should just make sure it will work with your GPS first.
