hi im after a some opinons on the best course of action re my forks

ive some 09 fox talas 32 9mm that the travel adjustment isnt working correctly i have to lift the bike for them to come up. otherwise they are mint. ive just replaced the top seals and orings and serviced them so im presuming having spoke to mojo i need lower seals doing (20 quid)

id like to flog really and just buy some 20mm forks and i dont use the travel adjust so if i were to sell on what would i get and would it be worth my while fixing the lower seals first ?

i could pay 60 and convert to floats but as i want 20mm it seems a waste (that said i could convert to float and sell

oh other option maybe i could convert to vanilla but i weigh about 174 pounds and just over 180 with kit i guess so which spring as one is upto 180 and one is over 180 im worried as i sit right on the line one would be too soft and other would be too stiff ;-(

any ideas 😉 thanks

Re Vanillas - ignore Fox's recommendations about rider weight / springs. I'm over lbs kitted up but use the purple spring whereas Fox say I'm borderline blue/green (both much too firm).

mojo said i needed to try the coils on the bike to see how both felt really or i be wasting money so decided on the floats. but not changing stickers at 15 quid a pop lol

So you have a set of forks working perfectly except a travel adjust that you dont use... cant you just use them as they are?

FireStarter i had the exact same problem with my forks 3 weeks back. I was fortunate that although my forks where 3 months out of warranty Mojo fixed them free of charge. After a call to them and an explanation of the problem i was having the said to send it in and all that needed doing was to replace an O-ring which was allowing air back in and so not "locking" them to the selected travel i wanted.

Hope this helps.

One last thing to say is that on return of my forks I noticed they had kindly put the 2010 talas internals in which is a big plus.

ah no tinsy they do sag into travel during use. After an hour or so they are at 100mil til i pull them out.

Warren ive the new internals in mine too but they said its a full service and maybe only an oring so hundred quid to maybe fix or sixty to convert to float. Ive no warranty with them im afraid.

You dont have to have a warranty witht hem as they are the fox distributers. All i did was send my payslip for them off to Mojo along with the fork. I bought mine from Mountaintrax.
