I am sure they have loads of happy UK customers. But when things go wrong, you're on your own.
They use DHL, but in the UK they then rely on ParcelForce instead of integrating the logistics and use DHL UK.
ParcelForce have lost my parcel. Or they never got it. No one knows. The tracking from ParcelForce says it arrived in Coventry on the 19th December but since then no progress. I spoke to ParcelForce despite their very limited English (!). They can't help. They know nothing.
The problem stems from bike-components.com. They aren't interested. They say they "might" refund if it's officially lost. But it's open ended, no timeframe. And no clarification as to what constitutes "lost" or how they will find out or if they will even investigate or speak to DHL.
So just a warning. The net saving after duties and fees can still be great but never again for me, not worth the hassle and the "computer says no" attitude of the CS staff.
The CS claims on their site are 100% false.
Can you do a chargeback? I'd imagine a certain amount of time would have to pass 1st.
Fingers crossed it's just a chrismas/new years delay.
Do they allow you to use paypal?
If it’s coming from Germany & gone into Coventry, it’s likely awaiting customs assessment/clearance.
19th December is not a long time for customs. I’ve had stuff wait there for 6 weeks & it’s not Parcelforce’s responsibility to encourage it through.
Its almost as if a massive holiday renowned for increased postal issue has occurred in the last 10 days 🤣
Have you got the CEOs email address yet?

My Canyon (sent direct from their factory in Koblenz) sat in some Essex port for a week to clear customs. Every day I'd get a tracking email from UPS pushing the delivery date back a day.
I'd guess with Christmas and holidays, it'll easily take twice as long as normal...
Yep, that's a possibility although I placed an order from Bike-Discount.de on the same day (12 December) and it was delivered to me on the 24th. It arrived at Coventry on the same day as this stuff.
But still, I'll wait a bit. I might just have caught a batch with the other order which that one missed. Doesn't sound likely though as there have been quite a few working days since then.
The time of year has been included in my expectations of course, or so I thought.
I think if I have nothing by the end of January I'll do a charge back through Revolut.
Just out of interest what sort of savings are people seeing that makes dealing with this stuff worth it? I guess for a Canyon there's no other option.
The only non-UK outfit I look at now is BikeInn, because AIUI they have some UK warehousing setup that means this stuff isn't an issue.
Canyon have a shop in Sheffield

In my (limited) experience they handle all the customs etc stuff for you but delivery can take a while because whatever you ordered still has to go through customs etc
My missing delivery is for SRAM DB8 front and rear with bar clamps at £30 including VAT, fees and duties. That's because it was a split shipment but then again if it's lost I don't have any brakes 😂
The other item which was sent at the same time and arrived on the 27th was their own brand wheels (29', 28mm id, 1810g, ms driver, nice beefy hubs with straight pull spokes and seemingly decent bearings). Worked out at £111 landed but that's because I also saved VAT etc as under the threshold.
If you used PayPal or a credit card you should be able to get your money back
Has anyone bought something expensive from bikeinn before? Like £1000+
Their pages mention VAT & duties included....but if that's not quite true then the 20% VAT bill gets rather costly
I use Bikeinn all the time. The price you see is the price you pay, as above they do some clever trickery where the goods are moved internally to a UK warehouse (they seem to have facilities all over Europe), before it's then sold to you.
Its not quick. But they have great stock and great prices.
Yep, I bought a bike from them. Stated price was accurate (may have been slight difference due to exchange rate fluctuations, not sure, but definitely no extra VAT or import tax).
Mentioned on the other thread that I've bought from bike-discount without issue or customs. Same with Bikeinn.
can you check the customs bit, my parcel was held at customs, the bit that nearly shafted me was that they sent the customs duties letter to a different address, luckily I read thru the paperwork and the nice lady at the wrong address hadn’t thrown out the letter.
Got the tracking order number? If so, call Parcel force and ask to pay the customs charges...they should be able to track the parcel down and confirm.whatwvwr cost needs paid. You pay that and it tends to arrive next working day (if paid before about half 10 in the morning).
Try your tracking number on parcelsapp.com
Often gives more detailed information than couriers own tracking systems.
Thanks for the tips. Because they split the shipments neither of them are over the threshold, hence getting the wheels VAT and duty free quite quickly. I am not expecting VAT on the brakes/pedals either as just €40 value or so. I wouldn't mind paying though if that meant receiving the goods.

I'm not a fan of BikeInn (or their various ...Inn variants). I placed a big order (lots of bits) with them, and was told it'd take 2 weeks to arrive, which already felt a bit of a pisstake given postage was 9.99. 2 weeks later, no sign, 2 weeks after that still no sign. Long story short, one item wasn't available and they'd delayed the entire order because of that, without any correspondence or update whatsoever. Absolute chimps, won't be using them again
