Post mount on front, flat mount on rear. Who on earth came up with that bright idea?

Looking to buy a set of brakes, they are cheaper bought in pairs. I know I can fit an adapter on the rear to take a post mount but a quick google suggests I cant do the opposite and fit a flat mount to the fork. Ideally id like to buy flat mount as they look better and will be a better bet if I came to sell or upgrade. Is it possible?

You can fit post mount calipers to flat mount with an adapter but not the other way around. Well, you probably could do it but the adapter would need to be pretty awkward and I haven't seen any for sale.

Shit innit, it's the reason it's not on my list of new commuters. I know you can put an adapter on but it's just shoddy.

I’m not sure what the issue is? You’ll need the adaptor for the rear, but since they come with the brakes it’s no big deal. And bonus! You don’t need to use an adaptor for the front so you’ll have a spare.

Unpess you’re buying some IS-only Hope brakes from the 1990s there’s no issue is there?
