just purchased a morewood shova but think shes a little heavy... shes running a float 36 at the moment which although excellent is a bit overkill and i just cant afford to replace them yet so im looking at the wheels as the main cause of weight... sunn sos rims, 20mm bolt thru and hope pro 2 rear. Ive got £300 notes in my sky rocket to shave as much weight as possible. As the fork is staying i need a 20mm bolt thru that can be converted to a 15 or standard QR when i find the funds! I ride fairly hard but not hard enough to warrant an all mountain set. Any recommendations?

stans rims and tubeless tyres. Definitely the most noticeable thing you'll do for under £300.

You need to weigh or at least google everything, and then look at the best saving-per-pound.

e.g. Some cheap cassettes are heavy compared to XT, what does yours weigh?

Really thin inner tubes. About £8 each, but to shave quite a bit off.

ive just put some kenda nevegal john tomacs on with some spec prestas... saved a good bit there. running XT cassette, XT drivetrain, KMC SL gold chain. I think the main weight is in the wheels and forks, i weighed em at weekend without cassette, tubes etc and they were coming in just over 2kg a pair. forks are 2.2kg.
im not usually a weight wennie but the frame carrys a little more weight than others!

My Large Shova weighs 29.8 lbs without pedals, With Pikes, Pro 2 DT5.1's, RF Deus Cranks. 2.35 HR's. I'm thinking of some new Revelations to shed 400g. The frame is weightier than some for sure but not too excessively.
