[Closed] MTB/general cycling themed present for a girlie?

My better half is getting into biking more, and has just bought her first 'proper' bike. I'd like to get her something with an MTB theme for Christmas, but I'm stumped for ideas.

Kit/clothing wise she has everything already, new bike means nothing needs upgrading/pimping really and fettling stuff is out because she's mechanically clueless and is quite happy to stay that way - "why have a dog (i.e. me) and bark yourself?" is her attitude.

Any ideas? So far I've come up with an "I love my bike" bell...

I thought about a guide book, especially the UK Mountain Biking one or whatever it's called as I'm in it. Three times ๐Ÿ™‚

She got a Cube, lovely bike for the money.

Does she have Sealskinz cos most people get chilly feet but girlies seem to moan about it a lot more?

What budget are we looking at? Some training or a trip away riding somewhere are always good especially if it includes a night away somewhere nice. If that 'I love my bike' bell is more the budget then how about energy bars or similar for BIG rides?

www.forestfreeride.co.uk - A lovely posh voucher for a skills course, woman only, one to one or a mixed group ... the choice is hers, so stops you getting the wrong thing ๐Ÿ˜‰

An Orange Five

Annoyingly this is exactly what my other half 'needs'* - really, really shouldn't have let her test ride one for the day! ๐Ÿ™„

*I would say 'wants'

On the gloves note, these are currently favoured:

Mmmm a mtb theme you say.

Nettles - I would take her away for a mtbing weekend. Somewhere with lovely hills and a cosy, romantic B&B.

Is always a good source of inspiration for mtb presents for girls (the merino buff and yoga for cyclists have already made it into my Xmas list!)

Alternatively, Bunnyhop's suggestion is a great one.

Warm stuff does it for my beau! Buffs, head gear, ear covers, gloves.

And bags. A girl can never have too many apparently. Tiny, small, medium (any more than that - I'm the donkey).

And going away somewhere together.

I recently got 'er outdoors one of these, the cream-coloured one.

[img] [/img]

She's recently started back at uni, and commutes by bike between uni and hospital for different bits of her course. She was fed up lugging one of my old panniers around, panniers mostly being designed for hanging off a bike and not lugging around.

Anyway, this Ortlieb shopper thing apparently cuts it as a fashion item as well as a custom-designed shopping/schoolbag that happens to have well-designed pannier rack attachments. Apparently she's had loads of compliments about it, strangers coming up and asking where she got it etc. She's well chuffed with it.

That black bag ^^^ looks like part of a gimp outfit ๐Ÿ™‚

Weekend away sounds like the best bet. Failing that, and given the time of year, perhaps a Muckynutz mini-mudguard (especially given that you're doing the maintenance and it stops crud getting at the lower headset bearings) or a pair of riding glasses?

EDIT: Oh wait - trail hound puppy!
