Any hidden gems aside from canal tow paths and the water park?
Not really, no.
It's as flat as a kippers "what have you" , lived / survived in Baguley for a while and used to head out to the peaks/dales.
Alderly adage has some cheeky stuff as does Dunham park.
Lee and Crag quarry not too far away for real delights (where I live now by the way)
Ride TPT/canal to Lymm and back. Crap riding (i did a whopping 74 feet of climbing across 20 miles yesterday), but plenty of pubs along the way.
Priory Woods/Gardens is fun to mess about in. But that's about it. Maybe us "southerners" should create a pump track or something...
TPT to North Reddish train station and then get off at Hope. Or Levenshulme to New Mills, etc.
Not much as you say actually in South Manchester...
Ok, thanks folks. Where's Priory Woods?
I wondered if there was anything Altrincham way, like out behind Bowdon?
Priory woods is off Dane Road. We might be out on Tuesday after work if you fancy joining us?
Priory Woods are mine thanks.
Thanks that's really kind but I'm just here on family matters and I'll probably be gone by then.
I used to live in Sale before I went to Uni but that was before mtbs had been invented ๐
I'll go an explore later for a bit of light relief.
Priory woods mtb ??? It's a ditch in the woods that I never fail to ride through dog sh*t when I pass through the place . Unless riding through leaves and dog cr*p is your thing give it a miss .
There was some home made xc routes and jumps near Cholton water park but the council dug them up , the best thing about mountain biking in sale is the m60 out of it to Wales .
Not the Peaks then?
It's awesome and I totally nailed it ๐
Seriously thanks. That bridge over to Deckers is remarkable in a convoluted sort of way.
Canal to Dane rd, Priory Woods, round the water park, up to the Watch House then TPT back to Cherry Lane. I'm sure I used to do school cross country on the TPT before it existed. A bit of fresh air and mud was all I needed.
Sale resident here. Apart from heading into Manchester in search of steps and drops, theres virtually no decent riding to be had without getting out of town and up to Rivington, or ideally further up to the lakes. Time it right and you can be in Staveley in an hour.
Sale resident here.
Have you moved?
Yep, look closely and you'll find a hidden fort william. ffs It's sale/chorlton!
we built some smallish jumps in priory woods a couple of summers ago; okay for a bit of a mess about on until some dude called the council and they knocked them down.
Walked out to Dunham along the canal this morning. There was a tyre track that I could have sworn was from a fat bike but surely nobody could be that niche round there? ๐ Probably some fisherman on a scooter.
