Edit - not sure how this is posted as News, postomg from phone so guess clicked something random.

Hello, I have an MSR Trailshot filter, not used in about 5 years. I resurrected it from the shed today as starting try plan some trips.

Last time used it was pretty clean source, and fairly sure rinsed through when got home. Question is, should I replace the filter, or will it be grand? It's only had few litres through it, but been sat for long time.

I belive they have a major dislike to getting cold, so if it's been frozen in the shed then it is probably wallet time

Thanks. Don't think has been frozen, but think will change it anyway.  Cost new filter unit much less than a new full filter.

Istr that the instructions say that you should run a solution of some %age of bleach through it if it's been left for some time, and it's always worthwhile backflushing it periodically.

There’s a safety integrity check for the filter described in the manual, where you reverse some bits and check how long it takes for the bulb to reinflate.
