just ran a quote through for my new house. The insurance for the contents is similar price to my old place

BUT the accidental damage cover adds 300 quid to my policy compared to about 60 last year ! cant see why im more liable to have accidental damage living in the country !

wow ..... think ill just stick that 300 quid in my savings and hope my frame doesnt bust up !

Is that a brand new quote (eg not a renewal)? If so, bad news... statistics innit...

Jeez that seems like a lot extra.

I just took out building and contents insurance with them last night including accidental damage on both parts with bike cover for £327 all in.

Have they reduced your excess to £0 or something? That would bump it up quite a bit.

Aaah now, M&S (not to be confused with S&M, I always get them mixed up 🙂 )

I just renewed contents only. Renewal was well over doublw what I paid last year, on line new policy ~50% more.

I called them up, they applied an 8% increase to last years premium and reissued the renewal. Can't say fairer than that?

No claims etc and not living in Toxteth....

My ex wanted to try S&M so I bought her a crayfish and pesto sandwich on focaccia and a lambswool v-neck.

She left me.

Try GreenBee - they use Axa to underwrite their insurance, and that was what M&S used until a little while ago - it looks pretty much the same as the M&S offering to me and it was over £350 cheaper.

Then next year go back to M&S and remarkably as a 'new' customer you'll be given a lovely low price to entice you in.

Repeat above until too old to care.
