I am riding my bike up Mount Kilimanjaro in Jan next year, after much deliberation I am going to go with spds rather than flats, I ride different bikes with both but the low gearing and steep struggles will be easier with spds.
There will be a lot of hike a bike, especially the scree at the top and so a do it all pair of shoes are essential
Anyhoo...after a lot of research I had thought Giro Terraduro were the ones, but having tried a pair, they seem way too stiff.
Any recommendations for a decent shoe for walking which is clipless and stiff enough for pedalling?
Thanks
I do a fair bit of Hike a Bike all over the Lakes and Wales. I find the Mavic Deemax comfortable enough without being to stiff off the bike or flexy when on it.
I guess the XA Pro H20 GTX would offer a little more ankle protection and stability

I like my Shimano XM9s. They're very comfy.
I do a lot of hike a bike up mountains and I'd go flats personally, but that's just, like, my opinion man.....
What you want are Enduro shoes. SPD compatible but also made to be walkable as you push your steed to the top of the gnar.

+1. Just like a proper decent hiking boot but SPD compatible.
Less of a hiking boot and more of a trainer, I really like my Specialized Cadet shoes. They're soft enough to wear all day without really noticing that they're cycling shoes unless you happen to catch the (very recessed) cleat on something.
