Got a chalet in Morzine booked for this week and my mate has backed out. Now, I'm not looking for a chalet mate but was wondering if anyone else was around that wouldn't mind hooking up for a ride?

I know my way round there pretty well but just am wary of getting spannered on the trail if travelling alone.

Just be cool to hook up with some groups for a few rides.

I'm riding both dh and xc (biked for both).

in the bike shops, they will guide you for beer!

Dirtyboy - I'm riding an orange ๐Ÿ˜‰

Besides, I don't need guiding. I know the area really well and have guided there before. But, having guided I'm conscious of having a fall and no one knowing. I'm self catering and on my own - hence wondering if anyone else was out there that I could tag along with or "guide" (knowing that guiding isn't exactly encouraged by the gendarme).

I'm not planning on riding just the Pleny. I'd just prefer a few days when I didn't need to ride with caution due to worrying about falling off in the middle of nowhere and no one knowing

I've ridden there before on my own - but never self catered. That's the bit that worries me. There's always been a support mechanism if I didn't turn up in the evening. Having called the air ambulance twice and the ground ambulance I know it can happen out there - often unexpectedly.

Maybe I'm over cautious. I just don't like the idea of having a tumble out there with no one nearby.

I'm there the 11th to 16th and would be happy to do a ride. I know the area fairly well - been there twice before but would definitely welcome the chance to see new stuff. Prefer singletrack stuff than the DH tracks. I'll send you a mail [edit] your email isn't listed...

Right - I'll fire a few emails round tonight when I've got more time.

duffmiver - Chatel isn't far away at all (in fact it's a nice ride between the resorts). You can go direct via the bike park or take a more obscure route over the Mossettes and down through Morgins (good DH course there).

RandomJ - I do like those watches but it's not going to give me a lift back into resort if I snap my forks off, nor will it carry me off the mountain if I snap myself ๐Ÿ˜‰

Germolene - just try any old travel insurance BUT make sure you get covered for Mountain Biking (usually under a skiing policy exception). It used to be included in most standard policies but they cottoned onto the fact that it was costing them a fortune in 'copter rescues so it's been made an exception. I've mainly used Nationwide with the additional cover.

Snowcard were crap when I used them (needed to make a claim and they weaseled out of paying).

Your E111 won't work in GP surgeries either if you need just a few stitches or the like. You're better off paying cash and claiming back when you get home.

Are you sure the E111 will not work in surgeries. I thought that is the reason we have it?

There's going to be 9 of us out there arriving on 7th in the afternoon, we have a chalet in Morzine too. You're welcome to pitch up with us when you're free - mixed ability riding group - some DH only, some a mix of both & others will probably hit just ST.

If you're looking for a beer & BBQ we might also be able to arrange that! ๐Ÿ˜‰

No - they'll charge you in the local morzine clinic. They're not like GPs here and will stitch you and even plaster minor fractures.

It was 20Euros a stitch last time I took someone in there.

Tom - Duffmiver - you don't seem to have emails in your profile.

If you want to meet up send me a message (email is in my profile now). There's looking likely to be a mini-STW ride out there.

Right - so it looks like we can have a mini STW DH day and a mini STW XC/AM day

Email is in profile if you want to join in.

It'd be good to ride with a few new people over there.

Should be there that week too. Very much at the XC end of the spectrum though. French MTB championships practice in Les Gets on Friday 13th I think (looks like basically the Perrieres ski slope).

Cool.

A plan is coming together ๐Ÿ™‚

So far people either want a DH day (fine) or a sociable meander around the valleys (also fine).

I reckon we can hook a couple of good rides up and there seems plenty of us that've ridden there before so there should be good (new) trail knowledge.

Quite excited.
