What body (chest/back/ Shoulder) protection for a bigger than average person.

Chest is 48 inchs

Height 6ft 2 ish

Which makes all the mainstream stuff too small - even Troy Lee,

Any suggestions?

I have a POC Spine VPD 2.0 Body Armour Jacket in XL that would probably sort you right out good sir.

The mesh of the vest is stretchy with an adjustable lumbar strap.

In contrast, don’t be tempted by Endura MT500 d30 I have a 42” chest & their XL seems to be designed for Barbie. The D30 chest protector is about the same size as a pubic area following a Brazilian wax.

Edit - I have a Fly racing vest that’s a lovely minimalist fit yet still gives protection when & where you need it.

As a fellow oversized athlete, IME POC are not generously sized, 661 used to be but downsized about 5 or 6 years ago. Race face is probably the most generous I have tried in recent years ( https://www.raceface.com/products/ruxton-core?variant=39865612468306) but I often find myself having to ride with minimal protection and adjust my riding accordingly. A couple of years ago, on the second day of a week in morzine, I realised it was elbow pads that was causing awful forearm pump when braking, took hem off, felt great relief then crashed half an hour later, couldn't ride for the rest of the week, and can still see the scaring.

I have a fox baseframe vest. Not the burliest and doesnt offer shoulder protection, but it also do doesn't melt me, and it looks after the back which is my main concern. Leatt Neck brace too.

Nope. Skinny racefit seems to be the way.

In my experience Fox is the most generous size wise and they do XXL rather than some brands that only go up to XL.

Have a look at MX ones, or ones that cross over. 24MX & FCmoto are good sites to check out. European though if you're spending more than £135.

I've got a Shot air 2.0 that fits well and I'm not a waif!! Can't remember what size mine is but they go up to XXL.

Its not the coolest thing in the world but I don't notice it while I'm on a DH run. My son has the same one and he doesn't seem to be bothered about it being hot, I run really hot all the time though. Ours are long sleeved ones but I cut the sleeves off below the shoulder pads as I prefer my own elbow pads, or not as is usually the case....
