Just trying to come up my ideal wheelset for my Salsa Vaya. I like the idea of Pacenti SL25 disc rims on a suitable 11spd disc hub.
I like cup and cone bearings, especially now that I don't need three spanners and a vice to adjust them, so that pretty much limits me to Shimano if I want disc also.
There is an 11spd Ultegra CX disc hub, oddly limited to 28 holes only which probably wouldn't be a problem for me if I built with double butted spokes.
However if I wanted really high end (i.e. titanium freehub body) then the XTR hubs seem to be the only option, however I read that the XTR 11spd cassette is designed to fit a 10spd freehub body, which makes me think that an 11spd XTR hub may not actually take an 11spd road cassette?
Anyone tried this or know otherwise?
IIRC the road cassettes have to be wider, The larger cogs of the mtb version leaves clearance for the spokes, smaller road ones don't so the cassette body is longer.
D0NK is right - 11 speed MTB hub won't fit an 11 speed road cassette. Although the reverse will work.
it won't work.
Shimano do a 135 centerlock Ultegra hub thats 11 speed compatible.
Ha, I'm not the only one who's thought about this obviously!
Ah well, will just *have* to put up with Ultegra hubs then 8)
Been looking at these: http://www.halowheels.com/products/part/HUHARDR4KC seems to fit the bill but very little in terms of real world reviews.
