Has anyone got one? I'm thinking of replacing my 10 year old Montane Direct Ascent event jacket and wondering what's good. Hill walking, backpacking, not too bulky for the rucksack in summer.ย

Totally unaware of this jacket but I do like the name.

Same. Great name for a rain jacket!

Also worth having a look at the Patagonia Torrentshell 3L. Similarly priced but gets reviewed well in the "what waterproof" mega tests.

I tried a Torrentshell on at the weekend, didn't fit me very well but otherwise looked about right

UKC did a decent-ish video review on YouTube, I vaguely remember that they thought it felt a bit fragile. Personally I'd look at Mountain Equipment's own brand fabrics. They do really well designed and cut shell jackets. Or Rab. The Torrentshell's a bit weighty for a summer waterproof plus Patagonia's fit has got quite boxy.

I did get a Petrichor one in the end, a Montane Cetus. Mostly because it fit me better than anything else I tried and it's cheaper than Montane's Gore Tex jackets. Time will tell if it's any good, although now that DWR isn't as good as it used to be (and it wasn't that great before IMO) I'm going to manage my expectations.
