Anyone have any experience with these and their sizing?
My son is about to turn 5 and is ready for gears, but none of the smaller ones have gears.
He's a wee bit small for the edinburgh co-op small cairn, if that's any help.
Am going to measure his inside leg tonight.
Gears on a bike for a 5 y.o.? Is the extra weight worth it? You can't just drop the bike, can't jump off it to see how far it rides without you onboard...
Just sold my 2008 26" Fireball on Ebay at the weekend. I assume you're thinking of the 24" wheeled version which I can't really comment on but seems a bit much for a 5 year old IMHO, the 26er was pretty hefty at 34ish lbs so I'd assume the 24"er will only be a few pounds lighter??
Nah, they do a 20 inch version of it, too.
I mean, all i want is a small bike with gears, so he'd be able to keep up with his sister and me n' the missus. Islabike's Beinn 20 (small) seems a good fit, but their shipping time is 4 weeks for it.
I often see him pedalling hard as I shift down and I feel sorry for the little guy (sniffs into sleeve.)
