The Wine Press, Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough OL15 0AZ
8:15 pm
Bring beer money
Ooo it'll be light till 10 too 🙂
Oooh, might see if the Brighouse crew fancy a road trip. Would you mind if a few of us turned up?
Like you'll show up. We're not even sure that you actually exist. You could be a spam-bot like CFH.Ooo it'll be light till 10 too

Not at all. The pace will be "social" and the piss taking will be turned up to 11.
I should mention: Don't park at the Wine Press. It gets really busy on summer evenings. They'll not appreciate us lot filling the small car park up, while we swan off into the hills. They may even refuse to serve us posh crisps and San Miguel afterwards. And we can't risk that!
If you turn down the road by the side of the pub, that runs along Hollingworth Lake, there a visitor centre car park about 50 yards down on the left. Its a much better bet to park up there
Binners I could buy you this to wear:

much like a certain group does when they visit Hebden Bridge then disapear off on their 4hour+ rides... cough bogtrotters.
Hope to be there this week...!
Well I've read it myself but I just can't see any smelling pistakes in binners' poster. It doesn't feel right.
Come on fess up. Who are you and what have you done with binners?
I strongly suspect that I still won't be right for Monday. Its not funny any more 🙁
ha! I've spent the last few minutes proof-reading the poster too!
I'll be there. Mayhem the weekend after though, so I'll be taking it steady and will be drinking mineral water 😉
Wanna lift?
depends. Do I win a bent rotor again?
That doesn't sound too far to exceed my more riding than driving rule, so hopefully see you Monday!
Bregante - I discovered an interesting new feature on my Mac called a 'spellchecker'. Its amazing. Carent fink why hive niver yoozed it beefoor
Just trying to think what route we did last time. I seem to recall it was all rather dark. Might do something similar, as the other routes I know around there will come in at over two hours, not allowing for the inevitable faffing and (probably my…) mechanicals. Picking your way through the Rocks on the edge is much more fun when you can actually see them 😀
If I actually believed that hora was going to turn up for this I'd probably ride over on the road bike for a pint and then scav a lift home from him.

Up to the White House.
The "Mordor Traverse".
Screaming DH to the pub.

Yes. I've tried to forget the "crunchy" feeling when I removed my glove after going A over T.
Really should turn up to another one of these soon, especially some new trails, will have to see if I can get a pass (doubtful)
ms jones either has a lopsided head or the helmet has been shopped on slightly skew (central vent/nose alignment) - if we're being pedantic.I've spent the last few minutes proof-reading the poster too!
Good work tho 🙂
Ms Jones is looking a little flushed and suprised too. Shock and Awe?
Ah, yes. Just been consulting previous jaunts on strava. I'd suggest a similar route. Much more fun on a light june evening. Especially the descent from the Edge 😀 The route going round the other way, which is a belter, we'd be struggle to make last orders. And we can't have that! Its all about priorities, after all
Ms Jones is looking a little flushed and suprised too. Shock and Awe?
Horas flash grenades?
Dropper post.
Are newcomers welcome? Never been on one of these before as they're usually a bit too far but this is just that bit closer to South Manc to make it do-able. And I hardly know the trails round there so would be good to ride something new.
Quite fancy this. Been here for 7 months now and still not very clued up on linking the nearby trails together!
Wish my new bike was here though - looks like I'll be slugging it out on the girlfriends extra small Orange Five...
No. Sod off 😉Are newcomers welcome?
Where abouts are you? The Prestwich ones should be even closer if you are travelling up from the expensive side of town.
Levenshulme. Not exactly far I know but the Mrs doesn't get in with the car til 7.30ish on Mondays so it all seems a bit of a rush to get anywhere further than a few miles.
Anyway I'm moving to Tod next month, which will make things much easier 🙂
Moving to Tod? Say hi (if I make it on Monday). Happy to point to trails.
I'm going to see how I feel after Sundays ride but probably going to make it.
Binners - What spares should I bring for you this week? Headset? Cranks?

Will do. Getting quite excited about finally living somewhere with proper biking from the doorstep 🙂

More like fags and sausage rolls... 😀
I think he's eaten enough
I think I'm going to turn up to this, if that's OK. Be rude not to being as it's five minutes up the road from me. I'll be the fat bloke looking nervously at his bike and begging it not to break.
Loads out!
No pressure to come up with a good route eh Binners? 😉
In!
ms jones either has a lopsided head or the helmet has been shopped on slightly skew (central vent/nose alignment)
… or she has a slightly twisted head, just like me. Trying on new helmets is always annoying ¬¬
Will be my first ride in 8 weeks. Wanna lift Binners?
Mrs Ed is working so I'm out 🙁
Binners - What spares should I bring for you this week? Headset? Cranks?
Could you just bring me a spare bike? Actually - could you bring me some lemsip. Still got the remnants of man flu, so I'll be coughing and spluttering, and generally moaning.
Weather looks good for the evening though 😀
dontdropthesoap - are you still not getting messages though? Sort that bloody phone of yours out, will ya. I'm picking someone up en route, but Lee's going. Give him a shout. No point both of you driving
No messages. I'll contact Lee.
No love for a road trip from the Brighouse massive so I don't think we'll be there tonight. Enjoy! 🙂
Looks like I'm out. Killed the rear hub on the other halfs bike yesterday and cube still haven't delivered my Frittz. Only option is the cyclocross... it would cope but would be a bit too slow!
The bit on the top of Blackstone, where you're picking your way through boulders, certainly isn't cyclocross territory. You could shoulder it, but it'd take the fun out of it
Daz - just get a bloody iPhone like everybody else, will you? Then you can use it to actually communicate with people 😉
Could I just add: there seems to be people from a range of geographical locations threatening to come on the Monday Night Pub rides. If any of you fancy hosting, and introducing us to your local trails and ales, shout up!
I shan't be riding - my back's ****ed, yes back not bike.
Binners, Had an I phone previously and yours seems to be the only one I can't receive messages from. Anyway, I'm sticking local tonight might see you next week.
Evenin' all.
I shall be attending unless I die before I get off the train. ETA: 17:37 at the Smithy Bridge Station. I'll be the guy eating something at the Wine Press next to a [s]Black[/s]Blue Pig.
Binners - d' ya wanna text me 07783 99 555 0
S
Due to the mention of boulders I'll be replacing the BB on the big bike, if i can get it all fixed in time i'll be playing out 🙂
I'll be there and hoping you lot are not too fast cos I'm knackered after the weekend. If anyone sees someone on a Cotic Solaris looking a bit lost give me a shout.
I'll be the guy eating something at the Wine Press next to a BlackBlue Pig.
I'll be the guy confusing everyone by also turning up on a [s]black[/s] Blue Pig.
and hoping you lot are not too fast
You soooooo don't know us. Terrahawk came 2nd at the 24 hour world championships and is the reigning 'puffer and UK24 champion, but he's not out.
The rest of us are dog slow.
This is a bloody long shot, but if anyone could bring a spare set of Magura Louise BAT pads, even just for a borrow today, please could you....
Mine appear to have been oiled by an adjacent bike...
Ta
Don't go without us, we're riding over....
Aaaah.. BestVET.... Aaah, I thought BestBET, was confused.
That was bloody brilliant fun! So much easier through the rock garden at the top when you can actually see the rocks!
I'm liking my patriotic picture Harry! 😀
I hoped the squeaking was my BB, turns out that the main pivot had worked itself to just finger tight and then I'd ridden round woburn sands on it yesterday - lunched bearing.
Looks like a great one tonight!
Yes a grand ride this evening! Thoroughly enjoyed it - nice and dusty although my shower will testify that i still managed to find plenty of mud!
The lovely (if midge infested) Hollingworth Lake...
Rest break...
Give me a chance to get my breath back!
Top of Blackstone Edge - no more climbing!
The flag seemed pretty new... Wonder if it was Lee Rigby related?
What a belting night for it. Great pics.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, thanks everyone.
Looks alright I suppose 👿
We're doing it again next week (provisionally). Pull your bloody [s]finger[/s] thumb out!
There appears to be a girl in that photo! Or did Hora turn up?
Cheers guys. That Mordor traverse and descent was something else. Twenty years in Manc and I"d never ridden it til last night. Idiot!
There were two. None of them were Hora. There appears to be a girl in that photo! Or did Hora turn up?
That was a blinder! Thanks Binners for the route and everyone for a fine night out, oh and the sunshine (but not the midges).
PS I am not Hora!
Clearly not as
1. You actually exist
2. You can ride a bike.
Gorgeous ride, cheers all!
Really hope to make it next week!
Awsum, it was. If we're being organised - can someone arrange the weather to be about the same please.
Thanks
Ta, Witton, makes sense to me now! Might see you all out on the hills next time, if I am free.
If anyone was remotely concerned, my right arm is now an interesting assortment of colours after my little.... ahem... 'incident'. I suspect my thigh is going to be even more kaleidoscopic by this evening.
Thanks to WW though, for waiting a full half a second, to check I was still moving and therefore alive, before pointing at me and laughing 😀
I wanted to see a helicopter... and then you moved.
Meh.
Apparently, if you want a ride in a helicopter, our usual haunt of Prestwich is where its at.
I arrived just after it happened. I thought I'd inadvertently found myself on the north face of the Eiger. About 8 'Mountain Rescue' Landies and an Air Ambulance. Talk about over-reacting! Its a public park in Prestwitch FFS! Not a base camp of Everest!
You make me sound so uncaring! You were lucky that there was such a soft landing - well for the bike at least which came down on top of you! 🙂
Looks fun. If you head up there again I may latch on (hopefully when Canyon replace my frame on the FS, or I might have to turn up underbiked!), I'm only in Oldham. I ride up near Hollingworth Lake but haven't tried that route.
We may be up there again next Monday doing a route out towards Tod.
Watch out for the thread. It us usually up by Thursday lunch time.
