How pointy are the rocks out there? How worried should I be about my sidewalls?

I found them not pointy at all - well no more than say the lakes/peaks but of course slickrock is errr - slickrock and smooth.

Right. I guess it's volcanic areas that have the pointy bits I guess.

You have to worry more about thorns that rocks. Poison Spider fit all their bikes with slime tubes.......

The side walls should be ok but you can easily get down to the canvas if you get carried away locking the back wheel on the steep decents.

It's just like sandpaper, I still have the scars where I left my skin on the trail, proper friction burns!

Let me point out this is unfortunately NOT a biking holiday.. it's just a road trip where hopefully we can get some riding in...

Just run low psi and after having fun at Slickrock go and buy new tyres as that place eats them.

Porcupine Rim trail is ace!
