I have a Magura louise brake & rotor and I am looking to change the brakes.

Can I put a hope tech evo X2 brake calipers/lever with the Magura rotor or do I have to get a hope rotor as well ?

You'll be fine. So long as the caliper and disc are the same diameter then you won't die.

I've run Avid levers with Hayes discs, Hope discs with Hayes levers etc.

I've used all sorts with all sorts. Never had a problem. Avids tend to work best with the G3's though.

My commuter wheels have Hope rotors on them and they run just fine in my Deore calipers.

Anyone ever had any joy with hope rotors. I've failed to fit them to avid, formula and shimano calipers. The little raised bolts joining the inner spider to the outer always catch on the caliper/brake adapter. Maybe i've fitted them wrong, but never had a problem with any other rotors.

Update:

The evos fitted perfectly with the Louise 180mm rotor with the same Hope adaptor from the donor bike.

NTS - do not stick finger through rotor when the wheel is spinning - it hurts when you chop half the nail off. Oh & it bleeds a lot.
