just bought a set of Shimano Deore BL-M596 Deore disc brakes, the brake lever seems a bit to short in length ie 1.5 finger instead of 3 finger to use gripshift as the brake lever has to be mounted inboard.

is it possible to use a 3 finger brake lever like this

thanks.matt

The calipers that come with those levers were cross compatible with yours, so should be ok, but you'll probably find you have a firmer lever with less travel, something i'd prefer, but not to everybody's taste. Nowhere near as cheap, but XT levers are also available in 3 finger versions without free stroke adjustment.

thanks for the reply, ive finished building the bike up and went for a spin down the street i think one finger braking is fine tons of power from these brakes.
