[Closed] Minimal windproof with decent DWR and very packable

Hi all,
I've got a windproof but it has next to zero water resistance. I'd really like something that can shrug off light rain showers.

As packable (i.e. fits easily into jersey pocket) and minimal as possible is important....though I would quite like a hood (not a deal breaker)

Will be used for bike but also walking and possibly running too.

What should I be looking at?

Ta!

Have you tried reproofing your current windproof? Most DWR isn’t very D, especially now companies are moving away from very toxic everlasting fluorocarbons.

Endura MTR shell? I've had one a couple of years, and while its no longer as waterproof as it was, it's still not too bad for short showers. A good summerweight waterproof or a 3 season "get out of jail" effort. Rolls up into a jersey pocket nicely.

I've just been given a Rapha Lightweight Trail jacket - not worn it in the wet yet ,but it certainly packs pretty small.

Both have hoods - the MTR one is removable. The MTR is not roadie slim, but not overly baggy. The Rapha is definitely MTB cut.

Endura MTR shell?

I've got the "Emergency" one with no hood, it's a pretty decent waterproof anyway and packs down small as Jon says.

Good for popping on at the top of mountains as well.

Montane featherlight

I find mine very un-water resistant. Goes clingy and cold super-quick.

Is very old, but barely used. Maybe needs a re-proof?

Worked for mine, but the OP did say light rain showers? I will concede its not the greatest when working hard as it does get a smidge steamy!!

Look for something with a gtt dwr (black diamond or marmot) never needs reproofing and performs so much better.

as Fazzini says Montane featherlight. Have a new one which is not the old pertex one that Cha****ng is refering to. The new one is much more breathable than my 15 year old pertex edition that i retired recently.
Don't bother with DWR, for light rain showers it dries really quickly.

Montane Litespeed. I have one for doggo moorland hilltop walking duties and it's great. Think I paid ~£45 for mine

"Tried and tested in environments across the world, the classic Litespeed Jacket is back. Now with 100% recycled nylon PERTEX QUANTUM ECO fabric and as versatile as ever, the Litespeed Jacket is super light and packable, perfect for providing breathable wind protection for almost any fast-paced mountain activity.

Designed to provide protection in extreme environments, the Litespeed Jacket is perfect for outdoor adventures. Featuring Pertex Quantum, the jacket uses an ultra-thin water-resistant coating to provide increased weather resistance for extreme conditions. Pertex Quantum delivers a high level of water resistance whilst remaining lightweight and breathable for all temperature comfort. The durable nature of the fabric works to give you peace of mind on tough ascents, it provides lightweight abrasion resistance so you'll never have to worry about tears. Pertex Quantum is ideal for use in cold or damp environments where keeping warm and dry is crucial. The pre-elasticated hood provides added protection from the elements plus, the wired peak allows you to adjust the brim. A full-length zip allows you to control the temperature. The zip can be worn up when temperatures drop to seal in escaping heat or when temperatures drop they can be worn down to release an intolerable heat build-up. The adjustable hem allows you to cinch down the fit whilst two zippered hand pockets can be used to store small essentials. Lastly, the Montane Litespeed jacket can be stuffed into its own pocket."

Another vote for Endura MTR Shell. It might poke out a bit if you have shallow Jersey pockets but it's my go to waterproof whether it's a shower or forecast torrential rain all day.

Patagonia Houdini for lightweight but still shower proof. I have the Paramo Ostro too which is a bit heavier I find. It’s fantastic when it’s colder or the weather’s a bit harsher but probably too warm for spring and summer use.

https://www.galibier.cc/product/ventjacket/

I'd be slightly concerned at durability if riding off-road and thrashing past brambles etc, or crashing, (tho I guess that'll be the same for anything that takes less than a pocket to pack), but otherwise it's great and very reasonably priced (both of which apply to pretty much all Galibier stuff so far as I have found/can tell).

Montane Minimus more at the waterproof end than the wind proof, but weighs nack-all
