Planning a trip to Inners/GT for the week beginning 14th of May and fancy a midweek day's uplift - probably the 16 or 17th.

Apparently 8, 16 or 55(!what?) seated vehicles are avaliable to book, there's 2 of us - anyone else want to make up the numbers?

I think a few of us could be up for this.

We have been thinking of asking Tally for this very thing.

what sort of cost are we looking at?

Hi Chucky,

The regular weekend jobbie is £32pp, so I guess the private is similarly priced. If it looks like there's gonna be enough interest I'll give Tally a bell to confirm price/availablilty.

Ok, the story so far..

Just spoken to Tally (nice bloke). The 8 seater cost is £250 for the day (£31.25 x 8 ) & the 16 seater is £512 (£32 x 16). If, say we have the 16 seater and only have 15 bodies in it we would have to split the cost of the empty seat between us.

Sounds like we've got the 8 seater covered no problem and probably will be able to do the 16 seater with not much more effort; Tally says he can advertise it on his Facebook page, which has had people fill spaces in the past.

He also needs to get the go-ahead from the forestry commission, so I'll be emailing him in a mo to confirm the date - am going to go for Wed the 16th. Once he's got the go-ahead he only needs a couple of week's notice re which vehicle he'll be needing. I'd like to get it confirmed well ahead of then as I'm proper anal when it comes to organising things and want to know it's all sorted so I can look forward to enjoying myself

No idea how the payments side of thing will work, will ask Tally if it'll just be through his website once the date is arranged, as clearly you wouldn't want to be sending it to me & I could do without the hassle of collecting payments.

Think that's about it for now, will update when I know any more; if anyone else wants to come & play, post interest on here.

Edit: If anyone knows any other forums we could get people to join us from, do let me know. Have done same OP on Southern DH & MTB Britain, but no interest as yet.

How weird is it that the 16 seater is more than twice as expensive than the 8 seater, btw?

Only slightly 😉

You would imagine it'd be slightly cheaper, no?

I think the idea is that it's £32pp, but to make it round numbers he's knocked a bit off for the 8 seater (which he owns?) against the 16 seater, which he has to hire.

Or something.

Not heard back from Tally as yet as to whether the Forestry Commission have given the go-ahead; I'll give him a call in a couple of days if I've still not heard.

Righty-ho. Not heard back from Tally as yet; have just left him an answerphone message and will get stalking him on FB in a mo...

Looks like we'll have the 16 seater as we've currently got 14(ish) bodies interested. Have had little interest from other forums, but the remaining places shouldn't be hard to fill.

So far we have:

Me
SidKillerest
Vortexracing x 8?
thegman67
Ton
BoardinBob
MussEd
Northwind ?

Will post any further updates here.

He might be under a bit of pressure to get Descender Bender @Mabie finished before he can do anything else 😉
Daft riders had a go on it before it was properly finished/hardened so has had to rework some sections. Should have been open this weekend 🙄
If I can catch him tomorrow out on the trail I will remind him you are needing a chat

Bad news/Good news.

Just spoken to Tally; in theory we've got the go ahead, in practice there are logging operations which *may* mean the top uplift road is blocked.

🙁

Clearly we wouldn't want to gamble that we'll be able to get past the men at work so I've asked him to find out whether we could run it at Ae instead. He sounded positive as hopes to know in the next couple of days.

Optomistic 🙂

Hopefully this would still suit people?

^ Not what I've been led to believe - seats wise. However, I understand the 8 seater is owned by him, so you may be correct.

If necessary I shall clarify this point and, if you are correct, GW, I appreciate your intervention.

Rob, i have a big old van, if we had access we could take it in turns to drive up, and do our own uplift....... 😀

anyone know of a big forest with access for a van, where we could do our own uplift day?
or a big mountain side with some dh runs off it?

Ton. To do it on Scottish FC land ie Ae you need a minibus/ Landrover with seats, a trailer for bikes and a huge wad of insurance to cover your rear end!!
Buy an old Safari Landy, hire a bike trailer, get insurance and talk to FC re hire of DH course for a day? You would need to convince them that you are not running a business.

I like your thinking Ton! However... FC land etc. I'd be [s]surprised[/s] ****in amazed if we got the go-ahead. I'm always looking out for opportunities for self uplifts when I ride and the only place it's usually a goer is on FC land - if the gates are open 🙂

YGM re sneaky uplifts

Hello all - am posting on behalf of Rob Hilton, who is currently in the middle of nowhere with no internetz.
I have been asked to confirm that the Ae uplift is on for the 16th May, and that he will be in contact at the weekend once he returns from the 1970's.
Cheers, hope to see you all on the 16th.

wheee heee

it's on then.

Righto, i'll get the lads fired up for this

Ton, I expect you to turn up in all the 'stormtrooper DH gear ' and a 8" 45lbs bike. 😉

Am I right in thinking AE has another DH run now as well as the one with the big drop off?

Personally I'm hoping Ton turns up on his electric bike 😀

Ok, so now I'm back from Wookie hunting I can't wait to get stuck into another trip! Only got Tally's answerphone, so can't throw questions at him that way - have emailed him as follows:

Hi Tally,

Looking forward loads to this... just a few queries.

Is pricing the same as Inners?

Are available seats the same as Inners? Think 16 seater will be on, but we may be a couple of bodies short.

Regarding payments; is it possible for us to pay through your website as if booking a normal weekend date or would I have to sort it out?

What time will it kick off?

If it pisses it down does it turn to goop?

Are electric bikes acceptable? Did I really leave this in?!?*

Cheers,
Rob.

If anyone's got anything else to add, lets hear it.

Will email to dist list as previous - we need to confirm numbers.

Anyone else who wants to join the party, get in touch.

*Awaits shoeing from Ton

Heard back from Tally:

We normally just do the 8 seater for private days. It's £250 for the day and it's up to you to fill it!
I can look into a 16 seater and see if we could do that for you.
As for payment it's normally done by the person booking (ie £250 in one transaction) and can be done direct to us by bank transfer.

Going by what he told me previously the 16 seater would cost £512. At best we seem to have 13 (maybe 14) riders at the mo, which would make an individual cost somewhere between £36 & £40.

We may be able to pick up another couple of stragglers to bring the price down, but failing that we're either looking at £40 each or the 8 seater and some people missing out - which clearly we don't want as we all want to have some fun

So... confirmation on definites needed ASAP please.
And then you also have to be prepared to pay for a part seat that might have no-one in it. Think of it as a timeshare??

Then we come to the issue of payments 😕
Well, I guess it won't hurt if we did 2 payments to Tally? I'm thinking one from Vortexracing's crew and then eveyone else through me?

Not ideal, but I'm not about to flee the country for a couple of hundred quid.

Don't know the time it'll start yet - did ask, but that's the one Q Tally didn't answer. I'd imagine 9:30 for 10:00 or there abouts, but he did tell me

It it rains at Inners it is ok, some tracks muddier than others but not slow gloop!!

which sounds promising for there being more than one track.

Why can't life be simple? 🙂

According to the local uplift service they only need a minimum of 4 riders for their private days - got to be a breeze to organise, that one!
