I need some new ones and to date have run the TNT. Ha anyone experienced the TLR (Tan Wall) and could comment on its puncture resistance / construction please?

Also any experience of running a 2.35 Mezcal up front for XC would be appreciated.

I'm not convinced I wouldn't prefer something that clears a little easier so you don't end up out of grip suddenly. A barzo or peyote would fit?

Sorry if that's not helpful. I've only ever used the TNT casing, because I like riding my xc bike not just racing it - and so I just hammer around and don't worry too much. The TLR casing would get shredded by sussex flint.

I run tan wall Barzo’s on my Pivot XC bike. Front 16psi rear 20psi. Good tyres and no problems so far

A barzo

Thanks for the feedback. I run Barzo’s up front now and was considering running a Mezcal upfront In the dry. However, then it rained. My current Vittorias are not far off losing their sipes hence wondering whether to get some tan walls instead for Pivot 24/12. Having said that, a Barzo that low might be a perfect summer tire and I do have a nearly new one on winter wheels should it piss down at the event.

The colour won’t go with my bike but hey that’s 120g weight saving we are talking about for a pair….

I’ve run both and not had any issues yet, I tend to run tan walls on scale and singlespeed, and normal ones on spark, and generally run barzo/barzo and Barzo/Mezcal combo, I have run Mezcal/mezcal combo when dry and has been very good and quick

I prefer Barzo up front. The Mezcal wasn’t as confidence inspiring on the front when cornering, especially if  it was a bit loose or wet/muddy.

FFS, there's ONE place in Germany that'll get me both tyres £20 cheaper for the set including UK import VAT and I can only get mixed sidewalls. Non matching tyres on the bikes feels a bit wrong...

Just cycled from Southampton to prestwick with mezcal tan wall 2.35 up front and 2.25 on the rear. Including training miles, I'd say I had 1 puncture in 1000 miles and it sealed with a plug. Apart from 1 skid mark for an emergency stop the thread is all still there.
