Had a go on wednesday and failed dramaticly! I finally realised somethings are best left to the the younger riders that don't need to worry about paying mortgage's! The rest of the black route was fantastic though, much nicer than the Welsh trails. I will be back!
Couldn't get past the first dip, front wheel stuck.
I have come to realise mountain biking is so much more fun if you accept your limitations and yeah, try and do that little bit more than you think you can, but McMoab, forget it.
Not cleared it, bat have managed it all in stages!
With some "technical" dabbing I have...
I have, and still managed to pay the mortgage. ๐
I manualed the lot a couple of years ago, then trackstood for 53 mins on Jabberwocky.
+1 for cleaning it all. got it first time on flatties, went back a couple of days later on spds and found it harder. went back again on flats and got it all, then had a play making up my own lines. il ike the chute at the end, is it the ridge or something? dead easy but looks ridiculous when you first see it.
one dab the first time
a couple the second time as i had to keep stopping to make sure nickc wasn't dead
๐
oh and i have a mortgage to pay too (but i do get lots of sick pay!)
How does it compare to the Slickrock trail. I've cleaned that
it's not really very hard but it's straight after a climb. bets to take a rest before you go into it as it demands some power and a lot of concentration
Cleared it, but not all in one go, few stops here and there.
๐ at mrmichaelwright, thanks for checking...
Not cleared it in one but get a bit better each time I try it, but the best is to come at that point after heartbreak hill that singletrack back to the road is worth not putting to much into McMoab ๐ In my opinion of course!!
Well I look forward to some of you gods of slickrock showing me how it's done in 2 weeks time!
I'll be watching that too Si!!
Oh no you wont sir - I'll be watching you and I am also nominating you to be the guide for that first chute too heh ๐
just a couple of daps on an SS.....
ground to a halt 2/3 up Hart Break Hill though......
Cleared it completely on the full sus, not so easy on the hardtail with about 4 dabs. Must try harder next time.
Have cleared it in stages, never all the way round without dabbing
the chute.......another happy to watch bit!! Looks worse from the top than the bottom. Still yet to nail that though ๐
Cleared it all 1st time with 2 dabs. I bailed out on the chute however....

Lowey = that's a great photo as all others seem to flatten it.
Forge - I was talking about the little chute on the singletrack maybe that is still on the first red section.
There is a small slab at Dalbeattie I have have yet to try and do so yeah, one day I may try a small on of these somewhere with one heck of a long run off at the bottom.
I have to say respect to Haddock though who rode both the Slab and Terrible Twins yesterday.
The chute is the easiest bit.
The trouble is that sure, it's also the easiest place to lose teeth and break bones!
Well, i think i will just have to try harder next time i go, starting to feal a bit inferior now!
On that picture the chute looks almost vertical, surely it can't be that steep!!
it's not far off!
i always want to give it a go but am put off by consequences. I've ridden steeper stuff but have always had a full facer on and my saddle down. I can't be arsed putting my saddle down for UK trail centre stuff.
I too bottled on the chute but cleaned it till then

Oh what an excuse. 'No, no lads i'm not doing it, can't be bothered to put my saddle down'. Classic.
Its not the chute itself i find scary its riding along the sheer wall at the top. I think I would chicken out, try and unclip, fail and have the mother of all clipped in tumbles.

How does it compare to the Slickrock trail. I've cleaned that
A shed load easier, for a start its only about 500m long (if that!) Slickrock trail has some seriously steep sections - pretty impressive to clean it!
never failed not to clean it. duggie style on the other hand, i would pay everytime to watch him do it, he always ends up in the worst mess ever!! ๐
Lol at Lowey!
Cleared it all 1st time with 2 dabs.
So you didn't clear it then!!
(Not mocking you, it's just the way it reads. I haven't cleared it either....although I have ridden the chute ๐ )
never failed not to clean it
You lie you big eared deviant!
It took me a long loooong time to clear the chute at the end. I did it on my last trip over there though and went up and did it another few times for good measure. Not as hard as it loks but still felt brilliant to finally do it. ๐
Hell hath no fury like a mountain biker scorned!

He's nicked my excuse for 2 weeks time. I'll have to come up with something better than that ๐
I cleared it all in between dabs (and there were many).
@ stuartm555
Surely this photo is only one of a series...? So what did happen next?
duggie, your a sick man ๐ฟ
He almost made it but not quite, managed to control getting off his bike though and tried another few times.
For info its GW.
I;ve seen a vid on youtube of some guy clearing it going up.
Insane.
stuartm555 - Memberyou're all riding it in the wrong direction!
that is mental. I can just picture the look on the watchers face...
