Maxxis ignitor - what's it like in mud and soggier conditions - I'd rather not fit a full on mud tyre. Struggled a little bit with a Crossmark on the back today (I did try to MTFU) 😉

OK, not brilliant IMO. Suppose it depends a bit on your type of mud; ours can be very wet & slippy, needs trailrakers in winter

They're not a match for say a mud x or trailraker in proper mud but still perfectly useable. They work well on everything else which is why I have them on two mtbs which are both tubeless and I can't be arsed changing tyres.

Prefer my High Rollers to pedal out of gloopy mud, but the Ignitors have a fair amount of nobbles to plough through some stuff. Thick stuff tends to just coat it all and turn it into a slick. Best for speedy dry trails.

I don't use mud tyres however, just High Rollers and Minions. The latter on the front and I find cuts a channel through all kinds of stuff and the HR on the rear gives power to get through it. Only thing I've had problems with is wet clay, but then pretty much all bets are off with wet clay.

Hmmmmm, got a Specialized Storm in the shed. Might give it a go and put up with the drag in between the sloth.

Found they cope pretty well in most conditions except wet clay. Far better tham high rollers IME.

I have a 2.1 (closer to about 1.4). Not bad in mud, it is thin with knobs not too close together, but rolls a lot better than my trailraker, unsurprisingly. Slippy on roots, but so is everything.

Run an Advent up front with a Crossmark rear, making the most of the dry trails at the moment. Looks like the trails are not staying that dry after today...

Anyone run an ignitor 2.35 as a front tyre in the winter? Is a high roller better up front for general winter use - Ardent tyres do not love the local mud.

Round here (FoD) they tend to fill up with any mud and turn into slicks. But otherwise agree good all round tyre. They do slip a bit but that's half the fun 😉 I did leave a crossmark on for one too many rides last winter. Crikey that was scary.

Oh tend to run a DHF in the winter on the front. Leave the ignitor on the back.

Ingnitors perform well enough; it's just that I wore through the sidewalls in one very rocky descent so am sticking with Ardents now..seem to tick most of the boxes.
