I had to share this with you all in the hope of helping others avoid making the same mistake I have just made.
My trusty Bonty Mud X has finally reached the end of its useful life on the back so I decided to support my lbs & buy from them. They only do Maxxis tyres for 29er's which I'm normally more than happy with & have had no trouble running tubeless in the past so wasn't worried as i handed over my £40.
I get home & think "ok its lunch time so I'll fit it now & save me doing it at a later time".
To cut a long story short i am sat here typing with a pool of Stan's fluid (about a fivers worth i reckon) on the floor next to me, my Joeblow Mountain track pump sitting helplessly next to the fluid & various high pressure cartridges discarded about the place with the wheel leaning against the wall flat as a grans t*t. Not happy.
I have NEVER had any trouble getting tyres to inflate tubeless until i met the Beaver.
So, if you're thinking of buying these & want to run them tubeless AVOID AT ALL COSTS & BUY A BONTRAGER MUD X.
Lesson learnt for me & please learn from my mistake.
N.B. Yes i know these are not supposed to be run tubeless & I'm sure there will be some tyre inflating god who has a been able to inflate these tubeless without Stans fluid using his well practised pumping action that has been developed over many lonely nights on his own watching Julia Bradbury on TV. Thats not the point of my post. It's supposed to serve as a warning to us mere mortals.

That works brilliantly for me. I used a 3 litre bottle for a bit more flow
Did mine no probs on crests, with a track pump. I always put a tube in first pump to pop bead on undo bead one side and then inflate. Never fails

A lot of people have tried to warn me off Beaver with words of wisdom like "You'll be spending a fortune on Beaver" and "Beaver is never quite as good as it's cracked up to be". Well, I've tried several examples for short term test rides and also some as part of a long term deal and I have to say that I now cannot imagine life being worth living without Beaver somewhere...
But then I've never found any Beaver in my LBS, so perhaps the general standard of Beaver out there is patchy?

Went up quite quickly using the right pump...
No problems since though i don't know what i'll do if I need to tend to my Beaver out on the trail 🙁

Never fill a tubeless tyre with gunk untill you've got it seated on the beads at least once. Tubeless 101 fail.
I couldn't get it up when faced with such a loose beaver, didn't get to the latex stage even, hopeless. I was trying to settle it onto a very wide rim, maybe that was the problem.
Yeh, you have to fanny around for ages to get those things sorted

I'd be interested to know what method you were using? If you've got one side fitted already, then pretty much any tyre should go up with a track pump, if not, then some washing up liquid will do the job.
Just be thankful there wasn't a gang of them 🙂

^ Those foreign beavers can be big and hairy, proper scary things. Pretty wild sometimes.
I'll remember the inner tube in the tyre first trick..... If I'd been able to get some juice in my Beaver it would have saved me LOTS of trail side faffing last night when my Beaver lost pressure & went all sloppy & lets face it, no one really likes a sloppy Beaver 😉
Don't give up, inner tube in first and leave it for a good while . Tube out and stretch the tube over the top of the tyre so it pulls the tyre into the rim. 9 times out of 10 it will then go straight up with just a track pump.
My Maxxis Advantage Exc. are 'loose' but go up with this method every time.
Non tubeless tyre not as good at being tubeless as Tubeless Ready tyre shocker.
Couldn't mount my beaver the other week either, but gonna have another crack at getting it hard this weekend. I do have tricky rims though. Above tip looks good.
The other key point here is to know when to give up, if it wont seat after having sealed the tyre with a tube then do give up and try something else.
I'd suggest running the tyre with a tube in, as it will help fix the tyre to the rim - then when you tubeless it will go up pretty easy.
I'd caution using well used Maxxis tyres with Crests though, they have a tendency to go a bit sloppy and pop off the rim - this is with well used tyres though - new ones are pretty easy to get on with the above method.
