I might sound like a right div here but does anyone know how to remove the wheel on a Maxle front thru axle system? (Bought the bike second hand and only with a flat thought to remove the wheel.)
The threaded bolt goes through the RockShox forks with a nut to screw on at the other end. The problem is that when I unscrew these bits, there's no obvious way for the wheel to come out. Any help would be much appreciated
its the axle that unscrews from the fork leg. The bolt on the end is to preload/tension the handle.
Open teh quick release lever, locate into the slot, turn the whole maxle- pull out
Ok. The maxle system is a through- axle job held in place with a QR rather than bolting on. Undo the QR and loosen off the locking nut on the other side. This will allow you to remove the inner axle/QR unit completely. You will then find the wheel is held in place by the forks, you need to SLIGHTLY pull the fork legs apart & the wheel will drop out.

Thanks for the speedy response guys. Very helpful. That maxle_360 youtube demo was the one that did it. Basically, i hadn't slid the lever into the engagement slot. oops...
Oh yeah, forgot about that bit.... ๐ณ
When you do it back up, remember to tighten the locking nut fairly tight after screwing the axle back in, & then closing the QR. The maxle has (ime) a nasty habit of coming undone mid ride if not...
