I have a Mavic Crossmax SX Wheelset from 2009 (White Hub / Grey Rim) and want to convert the front from 20mm bolt through to QR.
After reading online, it turns out the 'old' 2009 models cannot be converted as thy have a one piece 20mm axle.
My question is : Would it be possible to fit the adaptable front axle from the newer 2012 hub? I cant see any reason why not as they both run the same bearings,

I've got a spare set of adapters at home. I bought the wrong ones at first, so have 2 sets in fact, both slightly different. (So there are different, types which means no guarantee of fitting.)
Anyway, can you post up a pic, maybe measure the axle with calipers and I'll see if mine might fit?

This is the 2012 axle that can be used with the adapter in the image below to convert a 20mm hub to QR.

I'm pretty sure the 2009 axle cannot be converted as it is a one piece unit and therefore too wide for QR forks.
The 2012 axle, on the other hand, can be converted as the ends simply screw off allowing the 20mm to QR adapters to be fitted.
What I'm really trying to find out is, will the 2012 axle fit in my 2009 hub?
I think the axle ends pull off rather than screw off, if they are anything like the ones I've got.

I've looked at the pics now and I think I have what you need... pretty sure you won't need to swap the axle, just get the right adapter ends and push them on.

No, thats right - its the adapters that pull out.
I'm certain my axle is the same and the adapters in the pack fit (should be able to match up the part no. on Mavic's site)
Also have the smaller ones, which i think are for 2011 SX.

Thanks, after speaking to Mavic direct, it seems that I actually do need the 2012 front axle in order to adapt it to QR.
If anyone has one, give me a shout!
