At least you still got to go smith, we clearly didn't make it to Finale. We did consider driving down for a while but thought it a bit far for 3 days riding. Will let you know when we rearrange and see if you can make it.

Alright Ash, Rob!

I'm dismayed by the lack of wifebeaters in your pics....

Looks awesome! Well jealous!

Jammy buggers, the lot of you. (not that it's actually been bad here - we just don't have 7000m of descending in the entire bleeding country!). Is that the famous RHS on the green Commical? Pic 3 looks like it generates a lot of vert drop in a very short space!

it is

Pic 3 looks like it generates a lot of vert drop in a very short space!

the photo exaggerates it slightly for some reason, but it IS a fairly tight section

5000m up and 7000m down in ...FOUR days?

You've gone soft Ash. Too much swiss cheese obviously. I did 3000m up and 3000m down in ONE day on Friday as it happens. And the weather was blue skies all day too. Oh yes.
And in the UK too. England in fact, to be more specific.

(Admittedly I didn't see any switchbacks, but you cant have everything)

ok my tongue to the cat as we say here ๐Ÿ˜‰
Where is it? I can quite see myself going there next week ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh and who is the white bike? I was going to say it was greg's test bike for VV, but I can see on pic 2 that is riding his SC...

Juan, it's basically switchbacks close to the gorge part of the Bevera valley. Just upstream from the Italian border.

Who is this Nico person?

I reckon it would be really cool to do a 7 day trip through Provence with special stages that time the DH sections and then finish with Col Turini to Sospel on the 6th day and then on the 7th: Monaco. I'd buy that for a dollar!

[Coughs]Name Dropper[/Coughs]

well he didnt turn up anyway!!

Col di turini to Monaco can easily be done in a day, i did it to Menton one day, awesome ride..

Next time you are in the area, try Cime Marta to Ventigmilia, on the Italian/French ridge 75km, 3200m down and about 700 up....really cool ride, and easily link up with Tende and sopsel.

Yes... BUT:

T-P Day 6: La Colmiane - Lantosque - Turini - Sospel

T-P Day 7: Sospel - Braus - Peille - Monaco

next time park in fontan...
Go toward le lac des mesches then take the trail up go down to granille (amazing dh), then to bergue (both of them) then take the long fireroad up and go down in the wood toward fontan.

Or give me a shout we'll do the torrage the last bit of DH is just amazing ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi Ash

Mmmm maybe a bit of a long stage, there was a race I did about 3 years ago that was this route, organised by a chap called Olivier in Sospel....he runs Bar Roma there, you know him?

I take it day 7 was most of the route we did on "that day"?

I still remember using my mobile phone as a light whilst bonked...very memorable day..

Just been flat out, but hopefully we will have a couple of days free next week and would love to hook up for a ride, I havent done enough on the French side, and I love the trails of Tende/La Brigue/ Casterino, big exposed and techy...perfect..

With Alain from Alticoop? He was here on monday1 Will be cool if you are here in Molini..

Ash, It was a race starting at Tourini, passing through Sospel climbed up to Mont Razet (I think) and then an awesome run down to Menton.......so maybe a small part of the S6 route.

I think it was called raid Turini - Menton... I'm not sure if the race is still going now as the Rally Enduro style races have now taken over..

aha, ok, thought you were referring to my day 6

My point was: I was agreeing that Turini-Menton/Monaco is doable in a day, BUT it doesn't work in our case because our Turini falls in the middle of one of our days (the penultimate day).
