went to lbs today for a small purchase and came out wondering if the half price marin mount vision 5.8 which I would never have contemplated before this reduction as full suss 'big' bikes aren't very practical for my normal XC'ing.

I am very tempted though...if you've got it you'll use it? Does no harm having one? Good price.

OK so ive nearly talked myself in to it but I know what a minefield it is out there and as never looked in to full suss before I could do with knowing if good bike or not as I know once I start looking......! Already got road bike (well nearly, see my other thread about liberating my bike!), geared hard tail, 12 year old rigid singl speed commuter....be nice to have a full suss int he photo, wouldn't it??

Just a simple nudge of encouragement or otherwise appreciated.

it seems to get good reviews from all the mags, i know they are only opinions however they seem good bikes. my mate has one and loves it. seems cheep to me, and if you hate it you could probably sell it for not much more then you paid for it.

Hmm. If you cut out the BR bull that article basically says that it's fun to ride (like nearly every FS) is a bit heavy, a bit long in the tooth and looks really ugly. Gets 4 stars like everything else

It's a great bike for a great price. If you have the spondoolies then why not?!

I would. Worse case, it's got a nice spec of components, so if you didn't like it, flog off the frame and transfer the components over to another frame...you'd still be quids in. Thats what I did on a Marin Rift Zone I bought cheap in 2005...they transferred very nicely onto a ti hardtail. 😀

I've got one of the first generation quad link MVs. It's still going strong and does all I ask of it. I think the stem and bars are the only original components left on it. If it ever breaks I'll replace with this year's model.
