Looking at buying a bike as a bit of a stop gap that comes with a Manitou Mattoc Comp fork. Now it's a loooooong time since I last rode Manitou (06 Nixon's and 05 Sherman's both with TPC dampers), but I used to quite like the performance if not quite the reliability.

So how do the current crop of Manitou's fare compared to the usual suspects? It's the Comp version rather than the Pro, but as far as I can make out, it just loses some of the extra adjustment but is essentially the same fork?

I have a 2017 crc mattoc pro 2 @ 160mm and am loving it. Ive ridden pikes, lyriks, 34's and 36's over the last 2 years and i actually prefer it over them all. Its not as stiff as a lyrik or 36 but im finding it super plush, rides high in its travel and has a boat load of tuning options. The HBO is also really a really nice feature. weighs in at around the same as a pike too.

I'm a Manitou Fan, Had a couple of forks in the past and currently have a Mattoc pro on one bike and a Mcleod rear shock on another which is fantastic.

Not an option... The bike comes fitted with a Comp. Seems to be a few features missing on the comp, anyone any experience of this model compared to the Pro?

I've spent most of the last 2 years on MRP forks, and I prefer a fork that rides higher in its travel and uses its damper more effectively rather than just relying on the air spring (and its volume!) to hold the fork up...

the dorado air damper is really really good imo, ive about 70 psi @ 95kg, 30% sag, 1 click of hsc 2 clicks lsc and 1 click hbo and its absolutely eating all the steep tech i can throw at it as well as plenty of drops and jumps.
