need to hire a car/van big enough for 3 people with bike bags, and to ferry us around with built bikes while were there.
a 3 seater tranny or similar would be perfect but im struggling to find anything. another issue is we dont arrive till late at night and we need the van first thing the next day so it has to be sorted at the airport.
it may be that we have to hire a couple of Berlingos or something instead?
Anyone had similar issues at Malaga? recco's appreciated...
When I have tried in the past vans seem hard to hire in Spain, we hired a Berlingo type vehicle and an estate car which worked well. We simply collected and dropped off at the airport without a hassle.
If your staying along the coast towards Fuengirola or in Malaga it's very easy to catch the train with bikes in bags when you arrive.
EDIT Just seen that you arrive late, i think the trains run until midnight but obviously check first.
We have used Gold car several times, much cheapness but huge amount of faff and queuing at airport. But we did establish that if you have pre hired you don't need to queue at main desk in the airport, you can go straight downstairs to collect the car with much smaller queues.
Get annual hire car excess insurance before you go to avoid being bullied into their various insurance scams.
Smaller local companies are less faff in the Med. Less scams, usually pick up / drop off outside the terminal and a personal service / named contact when meeting and dropping off. No idea specifically about Malaga but don't rule out Jorge Holiday Car just cos you've never heard of it.
