Looks awesome! My wife has given me the thumbs up, buuut it's starting from £18,000 so absolutely too much (for me) for something that will get used very occasionally.
Realistically how long would a homebrew version of this take to make. I've not got a workshop with lathes/ pillar drills. I have got an Aldi compressor with a spray paint attachment I've never used.
Fiberglass experience- fixing lorries when I was 14 (so very limited)
Spray painting experience - one car door (poor) bass guitar body ( border line acceptable)
Welding- no experience.
Electronics- I can solder badly
Should I just buy an Mx 5
Yes, buy an MX-5 to enjoy now but also build a DIY pedal car.
Following with interest.

You might have to wait quite a while 🙂
Buy an old MX-5 and the holes will already be in the floor for human-powered movement 🤣

As someone who has been looking at MX-5's for over a year, I confirm this is true.
That has proper class. love it!
No! Get a Honda
No! Get a Pembleton
Although it's twice the price of the pedal car and you'll have to wait nearly as long as building your own, (make 10 per year) but it looks a lot more like it than an S2000.

Looks good!
And it’s the T24’s traditional construction – as well as only needing to comply with less stringent Individual Vehicle Approval build rules – that keeps its mass in check
Hmm, I'd quite like to survive a crash
£39,594, the T24 is hardly cheap
I'm ooooooout!😱
That looks fun, but I live almost as far from the seas as possible in the UK
Tow it behind your pedalmx5
