Bike was put away fully charged and turned off. Stored indoors.
Two weeks later = will not turn on at all.
When plugged in to the charger in get a solid white light, not flashing 'charging' light. When plugged in I can get it to flash green three times, but it refuses to turn on or connect to app.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Can you take the battery out and leave it disconnected for a while? clean the battery terminals?
Can you communicate with the mahle hub using the mahle app?, or try a forced reset which is a 30second hold of the top tube iwoc button
If that doesn't work then disconnect, clean and connect all connections to the hub
The battery is integrated and unreachable.
I've disconnected hub cable and then connected back again. I'll go back and clean them as well now.
The Bluetooth connection is to the Iwoc switch, not the hub. It won't connect at all.
Same as my Orbea Gain battery in the frame, mine sometimes plays up and won't connect but eventually does
Wee bit annoying as a new battery in the down tube is about £700 fitted at an Orbea stockist
It's never let me down, but like a petulant kid it can be a pain
Have you tried just leaving it on charge for a few hours and then see if it will reboot
While in charge mode, will the Mysmartbike app connect to the ebike, to inform you of battery status?
I frequently have to tell the app to unlink/forget my ebike and ask it to search for a new ebike. The search process has changed in the last few months after at least one app update, I now have to select the iWOC icon and it can take several searches to find the iWOC. I had so many emails telling me I have a new GT ebike!🤣
My GT gravel ebike with Mahle X35+ is only a year old. I'm wondering if you charged your ebike battery to ~100% and stored it indoors like that for weeks/months, causing catastrophic battery cells damage. You should only charge to ~80% unless you intend to use the motor within a day or two. Normally I'll top up for a longer ride on the day and then give battery ~30mins to cool before the ride. I'll wait 30mins+ to start recharging after a ride, more urgently if battery is under 20%.
So:
It's been on 'charge' for 48 hours.
I've disconnected the motor and reconnected, all while attempting to turn bike on.
"Forgotten" bike in app and tried fresh install of app on a different phone.
Still nothing. White continuous light when plugged in and it will flash green three times when you press 'on', plus will activate the head and tail lights, but will not turn on and will not connect to app.
Time to leave it to the shop.
Time to leave it to the shop.
Sounds like the Battery Management System. Get the shop to run a diagnostic and firmware update on it, I bet it'll come back saying the battery is bricked. It's a known problem with one generation of BMS, Mahle are usually OK with providing warranty replacements. The new BMS is much better.
But yes, definitely one for a Mahle dealer to sort out.
The good news today is that Mahle are sending a new battery free. This is a bike 6 months out of warranty, so deeply grateful for that. Stirling Cycles have also been great - quick to sort it out, very reasonable workshop charge to change over the batteries.
Really happy. 👍
Good result 😀
