Magura Durin Marathon- 2011 Model v 2012 Rockshox Sid XX.

Both 120 mm.

Hardly any reviews of Magura and the ones that are out there seem mixed- either excellent or dont touch.

Anyone used Magura's or should I just plump for SIDs ???

If you go for the Durin Marathon, you tend to get better performance from the fixed travel rather than the FCR (travel adjust) version - IMHO

The Durin Marathon is an excellent fork, but yes, go for the fixed travel rather than FCR.

(Hijack - Any news from Germany about my fork Mike, assuming its you?)

While I'm loving my FCR, I have to agree with MSC that it does take a bit of pampering! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And a lot of the time I do just run it at 120mm, just drop it on super steep stuff. Great fork.

I haven't tried the newer Magura, but i think they'll strugle to better the 2012 120mm Sid XX.

I've got a pair on my Cotic Soda and they're the best forks i've tried. They replaced some F120 RLC Fits and i think they're stiffer and better.

I might be selling my Sid's to go 29er, let me know if you'd be interested.

Hi TurnerGuy,

Never fear, you will like the Marathons, but you will need to experiment with several settings before you get it right!

Hi offthebrakes,

Onto chasing them up, but struggling to get a response - never fear, I will find a way!!!

Cheers

I have the Marathons on my Whippet. I got the FCR version but to be honest haven't found the need to change the travel much and have left them in the 120mm setting more or less permanently (have actually removed the remote travel adjust lever now). It took a little fiddling to get the pressure balance right, but they're lovely and smooth once set up, and plenty capable for their travel.
