Mac Ride vs Kids Ride Shotgun Pro

I have searched but the last time this came up was a couple of years ago when the KRS Pro wasn't available...plus now closed to neew replies.

Have used a Weeride for a while as works well when they're very little for all the support they give (but are a nightmare to pedal with).

Looking at the Mac Ride and KRS Pro..Pro version has the toptube brace/support which makes it look a lot like a Mac Ride.

Going on a Levo and I'm (only) 5ft8 if that affects things

Any thoughts on one versus the other? There's a MacRide on ebay now with e-bike adaptors that may fit the bill.

I’ve got the Shotgun Pro. Had a WeeRide before. It’s not cheap but it’s really well designed and well made. Also using it on a Levo, the 2019 one. Can almost ride the bike completely normally, moderate jumps and drops too when she’s not on board!

Shotgun pro seat and bars here. Do it. Absolute brilliant bit of kit! Been on loads of little adventures with my little girl that I wouldn't have otherwise. I also use it to collect her from the nursery if the weather is dry.

MacRide design seats the kids lower than the Shotgun. Limits how many helmet/chin interactions you’re likely to have. Worth it for that alone.

2 x MacRides here, now long gone and kids way outgrown them.

Never used a Mac Ride but our Shotgun and handlebars are brilliant. Junior absolutely buzzes on it.

Thanks all

From what you've said, I reckon I'd probably be happy with either - lower position of the MacRide worth noting though and I do like the sculpted seat

MacRide £200 and KSR Pro £170

Got my eye on a MacRide on ebay - if that doesn't work out I'll flip a coin 🙂

This was my first thought but need one on a brace and thats quick to install/uninstall - Amazon ones look more like the non-pro version of the KRS

2 Mac Rides here. Love them, love that it takes less than a minute to install/remove, leaving only a 10mm stem spacer/adapter on the bike when it's not there. I've got spacers on the HT, FS and nursery run bike.

we bought one new a few years ago, then bought a second on used this summer from ebay so we could ride with a boy each on holiday. Looking at prices, I expect we'll be able to sell both for not much less than I paid for the used one.

Lower seat also means lower feet - not a problem on most bikes but when you’ve got a big 29” tyre and a 160mm fork you run into a packaging issue if you do anything exciting after you’ve dropped your tiny passenger off!

It doesn’t, you move the feet out of the way to compensate. Pedalling efficiency doesn’t appear to be affected

I can’t comment on the difference but the Macride is great- little one loves it- although it’s probably the style of seat makes the biggest difference. She was a bit unsure about it until we added some mini bars (to which it was incredibly important we fitted the same grips as mummy and daddy have, so she has death grips….) at which point she was grinning for miles.

Mac ride is expensive but means we can swap between our bikes easily mid ride so probably worth it for us.

Very happy macride user here. Have just retired ours.  It’s been on my whyte e180 and my alpine. Z loved riding with it in Morzine. I’ve fitted the ebike extensions so it goes around the wider frame better.  PM me if you’re interested. </stealthAd>

Im currently selling a macride in ebay. I'm genuinely gutted that mini D has out grown it.

My mates kid is 2 years older than mine. He told me to buy one but I thought it was too expensive so he lent me his. Straight away it was a game changer and mini D took to it straight away. I bought one as soon as I gave it back.

We've done some amazing rides, some really technical stuff that I didn't think we're possible.  Once his feet are strapped in and he's holding the bars he's pretty stable. Ive put grips in board for him.

Now he's 120cm tall and started to put more weight on he no longer fits on the bike. I can't pedal around him now, it's too now legged and it's also getting harder to pedal with the weight up hills!

But he's now got a love for riding off road and he wants to ride his bike now. We've now got a tow rope.
