Mabie forest accommodation - plenty but any recommendations?

I'm off to Mabie forest for my MTB DSU course at the start of March and needing to get a bed (and ideally a shower) sorted. Doing my usual lazy attempts at finding accommodation suggests there are plenty options around, so to encourage my laziness (and through a bit more support their way) - any recommendations for looking to stay? Not looking to spend a fortune as it is likely to just be a place to wash and sleep.

I can sleep in the car but that removes the shower option and I suspect I'll be needing a wash before the weekend is through!

AirBnb has plenty of things on offer, there seem to be plenty of hotels but it is more somewhere recommended. I'm posting this as just me going but suspect my partner will also likely be coming along - she'll go for some walks whilst I'm doing my course, so it would probably be for 2 people (which makes the car a bad option as I'll need to chose between partner or my bike to be inside with me!!!).

Thanks.

Tent for Mrs B?

We've stayed at Barend Lodges in the past, a good 12+ years ago though. Unsure if there's anything smaller than the 6-bed ones we used to use.

Tent might work, but I won't get any points for trying to be romantic (although I'm expecting to have some homework to do on Saturday evening for the Sunday session so I doubt I'll be seeing much of her anyway)...but then my priority is a place close to Mabie Forest!

Will nosey at Barend Lodges and see what they have on offer, thanks.

The actual Mabie House Hotel is nice and could hardly be any closer by. Guessing that's over budget for this trip though?

Kingan Cottages are along the road at New Abbey and nice, they also have a pod on site which may be a nice compromise?

Location wise, if you're driving then Dumfries is 10 to 15 mins away and you've everything from Holiday Inn to fleapits in town here to choose from. If a cheap bed is all you need either the Prem or TLodge would do a job

I've stayed at Mathrown quite a few times, but not for many years. Very basic, but fine. Think scout weekend away place. Also stayed in pods at the Mabie House Hotel. Woeful. Have a chum with an Airbnb in Kirkgunzeon. Nice place.

We've stayed several times at the Nith Hotel in Glencaple, reasonably cheap but basic rooms, great food and friendly staff. 20 minutes or so from Mabie.
