could do with a new chainset/chainring and wondering if there is likely to be any issues running the new 12spd SLXrings with an 11spd chain and cassette?

I think (but could be wrong) that the inner spacing on 11 and 12 speed chains is pretty much the same. If I’m remembering correctly the 12 speed ones are built with narrower side plates so they are only skinnier on the outside.
As such you shouldn’t have any trouble running an 11 speed chain on a 12 speed chainring as the teeth should be the same size for both types.

Looking to get a new chainset to run with 11 speed drivetrain & lbs can get me a 12 speed Shimano one for a great price
