Think the seals on my front brake have gone 😕

Anyone spotted any LX calipers going cheap anywhere? Failing that, good deals on complete brake?

Chainreaction had them in a while back for £25, but look to have run out of stock.

To be honest I think you're better off spending a few pounds extra and getting M595 calipers, they're still under £30 each.

I ditched my LX M585s after another winter when the seals hardened stopping the pistons retracting properly. The M595s are meant to be uneffected by this issue and they won a recent disc brake grouptest in WMB. I'm impressed with mine and the work fine with my old LX levers.

Drop me an email Sprocketjockey (in my profile) I have a couple of the M585 calipers you'd be welcome to if you give me your address. If you're reasonably competent at hydraulics, I'm sure you could make a working set from them before you buy owt.

Thanks folks - but having checked the brakes a bit further I've noticed the lever isn't too clever either so I've just bitten the bullet and bought a complete front M535 brake.
This is the second LX caliper I've had go the same way (sounds like this must be a common problem), whilst the M535s I've had on my other bike for ages have been genuinely hassle free.

My bike is rapidly becoming a frankenmonster with all the mismatched components, so I'm past caring about how it looks!
