Looking at a new frame and I'm looking for some suggestions please. I'm looking for something reasonably long travel so 120-130 max. Def not 26" as I have that covered so 650b or 29". So far I'm looking at the Niner Ros 9, 2 souls Quarter Horse, Transition Trans Am and the Chromag Surface and Samurai 65. So basically pretty slack angles are a requirement as well.

Is there anything else I should be looking at in this price range?

Thanks

Curtis AM9 if you must spend a grand, but you'll get what you want:

Stanton Sherpa if you want to spend less.

Could you not get a custom build for a grand?

Have been looking at Donhou cycles just there actually and the Chromags are built by Chris DeKerf so although not fully custom geometry the quality is as good as it gets.

Are there any other British steel builders i should be aware of? I know of Chas Roberts and Dave Yates.

Stanton Switchback seems to meet all your requirements. The Ti version is just around the corner.

Cheers qwerty, I actually just remembered Bespoked just before your reply. I'll send away a few email to some builders I think.

Breadwinner Bad Otis? A tad over budget probably by the time you get it over here. Lovely looking bike and a NAHBS winner IIRC.

Been looking at the Bad Otis actually. A bit out of my budget right enough but I reckon I can get a UK builder to build me an equivalent machine.

I've always liked Curtis bikes - I've owned a few but the stuff on their website currently just makes me dribble a touch. I mean just look at them:

Makes me tempted to flog both my bikes and build up one top notch 650B thing of theirs...

Just the frame, for a grand? For a grand you could probs get a custom ti or carbon bike! My 631 Pipedream was about 250 quid! I'd speak to Stuart at Pipedream and see what he can do.

I wouldn't get the quality of Ti frame I want for £1k Aphex hence I'm going for a fairly decent quality steel frame possibly even a custom one from a UK builder.
