I attended a Campbell Coaching session on Saturday and earlier managed to confront a large (to me) drop off and 2 sets of doubles I'd not managed to nail before ๐Ÿ˜€

I also set another segment on Strava which incorporates these, although I have yet to fly off the wooden leap of faith!

I'm well chuffed, anyone else had any victories lately?

I got a KOM on a segment on my first ever upload to strava, didn't even know it was a segment, I'd only intended to use STRAVA as a traing tool. The plan was to export the average power, 10min and 5 min power to excel at the end of the month and track it over time, not accurate I know, but should give an indication of any improvements.

After that KOM I looked at the previous leaders profile and set myself a target of his KOM's (on the basis that they should be easy ifI've already beaten one comfortably, almost 2 min in a 8:30 segment). Depressingly he clearly wasn't trying very hard on the first one as I missed the next one by 20 seconds over 5:30!

Some of the KOM's are just depressing through, the leader on one had an average output of about 300W, which I can match. But he clearly weighs half as much as me as he did it in half the time! Not only that his 5min/10min power is 500W+, so if he tried he could probably trash his own record by almost halving it again!

wooden leap of faith? is this the shore above hte now sadly destroyed wallride. i`ve not been up the park in ages. i used to pretty much live up there.

is it your segment that pretty much follows the apocolypse now segnment apart from missing out the fun bits down the bottom?

Nice one spoon.

VH: no it's the wooden kicker after the 2 sets of doubles after the jumps in the clearing. It's built onto a fallen tree and there's a little dirt kicker to the right of it.

My segment's called "huck the pain away", it takes you to the stairs on the way out. I rode apocalypse now the other day and it's not that different. Are you talking about the berms on the right (looking downhill) which eventually spits you out on to the grass?

There's loads of felled trees/debris blocking lines now, but some locals have been rebuilding some of the features. I'm sure some of the logs could be built onto and incorporated, just needs the effort and tools.

probably best not to mention my successes (or lack of) with the gnarl lately..
however, I am very happy with what I've been achieving on the ascents.. managing a much faster pace, fewer rests and almost zero dab rate on some bogey technical climbs..

I managed to clear my " wooden steps of certain doom" a couple of weeks ago ๐Ÿ˜€
The poxy things had been psyching me out for months.
Small victories... ๐Ÿ™‚

ahh daves huck - i know the one. it used to be a bit more sedate when we built it orginally but someone trashed the lip and dave rebuilt it with the monster flyoff. its easier than it looks its more of a flop than a jump now as the monster lip takes all your speed.

before the landing for the double before got trashed you could ride it without pedalling into it if you death gripped after the double and really pumped the berm before.

i need to look at the trail just to the left of this as it was pretty good fun as an alternative to the main line. dunno if its still rideable of not.

i`d avoid creating a route down to heavily walked areas just to avoid the potential for conflict as the trails at wild park are kinda tolerated rather than permitted.

one day i'll sort out the step up-step down to skinny to elevated wallride line again - hours of fun. i know tom and the guys have been busy on the other side of the park with some fun monster berm lines and jumps and drops. dunno how far they have got now though as its been a good 6 months since i`ve ridden up there. I always wanted to build a fence ride at the end of the lines there as its definatly do-able and pretty much just needs a bit of scrub clearance.

Fair point about the pedestrians, I'll try and take the bushier routes out.

The left still has a line that goes through toward the steps, not many jumps/drops but quite flowy. The smaller doubles that fed into it are now blocked by a fallen tree but you can just about limbo under. The doubles themselves have mushed down to minor humps. I never tried the step up to down, it looks straight forward but I have trouble committing to things like that! The berm lines are doing good, there's just enough to hold you.

There's a lot of potential there for more or even restoring and redefining the existing lines. Unfortunately there seems to be more glass in the trails than ever before at the moment ๐Ÿ˜ก
