How do you mean? Skipping? Freewheel either not engaging or not disengaging? Something else?

Model of hub?

If the crank are spinning freely with no drive to the rear wheel, and then engages with a bang, it will be a problem with the freehub. You should be able to get a replacement freehub, what is the model of the hub? Normally a letter and three numbers printed on the hub shell itself.

Freehub pawls/springs shot.
Remove cassette, replace freehub.
