I'm building up a bike for my son using spare parts, donor bikes etc. I have a pair of old Deore LX disc brakes that came off an old bike - these have the reservoir on the lever. I've just bled both brakes and discovered that the seal on the front brake is a tiny bit split and is therefore leaking (rear seems totally fine). I'm guessing parts for these old units are pretty hard to come by but if possible I'd like to reuse the lever.Â
Anyone know if or where these might be available? I guess the alternative is to find a replacement lever and fit that, and bin the old one. Seems a shame though. Thanks!
Shimano don't do seal kits for their current brakes, older stuff isn't supported. You might find a 3rd party supplier on eBay or AliExpressÂ
I'd just chuck them back in the parts bin and buy these for 40 quid...

yeah I think the bin is calling, for the levers at least. Annoying how quickly a 'parts bin' bike turns into multiple online orders for bits!
on amazon too
Which side do you need, I've many Shimano levers you can have for nowt (postage though)
thanks for the replies, I bought 2 altus levers in the end and will fit them when they arrive.
on amazon too
thanks - that's not them though. the piece looks like a little rubber trapezoid shape with a pyramid depression in it that sits in the reservoir, under the cap. very old school!
