I did it last year but wouldnt do it again to be honest - it wasnt very enjoyable. Hopefully you have an early start. if you done plenty of riding then it shouldnt be too difficult the biggest problem is people walking up the hills instead of riding up them which causes congestion (and they dont just walk to one side they walk all across the road)

Just go an enjoy the atmosphere, stop at the pubs and hope the weather's good. If you want to try and do it fast unless you have a 5:30 start you'll just get frustrated with all the fatties who never ride bikes.

Not doing the L2B this year but, when I have, I tend to look at it as a fun day out: yes there's loads of people with queues but its not a race so just enjoy the crowds and enjoy having the majority of the roads with no motor vehicles.

😆

There's also great examples of all-the-gear folk...Evans must do brisk trade in the week before the event 😉

I'mn doing it for the first time this year. It's on my birthday so stopping at a few pubs sounds like a capital idea. Look out for a bloke on a blue road bike towing a trailer full of camping gear and say hi if you see me.

yeh sorry I shouldnt have had a complete downer on it - it is a fun event and like it has been said - not too be taken seriously. Most of my frustration was with the group that i did the ride with as opposed to the event itself

i've had fun when i've done it, had reasonable early starts but not ridiculous but still only encoutered a few sections where the congestion was obstructive. if the weather's nice it's a great ride. 🙂

I got a 6:30 start probably the latest you can start without getting clogged up and having to walk
- it means hammer it to get to the N. Downs asap; if you can ride up that then you should be ahead of the rest and able to ride all the way to Brighton (as long as you don't stop).

Or alternately enjoy the day and chill, hang out, stop at the pubs and walk up the hills.
