Considering picking up a set of the 700 Race model - has anyone got them? Any good or bad points?
Got one. As per reviews, power and spread of light are good, as is the colour. Head unit is nice and light for helmet use, although mine is usually on the bars. Good quality switch / connectors / battery pack etc. Only criticism is the bar mounting can move sometimes on drops etc.
I have the 900 Ultra - really pleased with it...on full burn it is too bright but battery lasts about 3.5 hours...I rarely use full burn though so reckon I can get almost 6 hours out the battery on the medium and low settings.
Battery is rather large compared to other systems, but the light works very well (and it should do at that price, but thankfully I didn't pay that!).
Only used it on the bars as I find helmet-mounted lights have serious degradation in wet conditions (and in fog they just create a wall of whiteness in your view) as they light up every rain drop in your field of vision. The bar-mounted lightspread does actually light up the ground directly below the handlebar so it isn't completely black - still not the same as having a light pointing exactly where you look but does mean I don't get blinded by falling raindrops or snow.
It's well made and seems to be pretty weatherproof...not seen much degradation in burn time in very cold conditions so I'm happy with it...
brilliant, thanks! anyone had any problems?

Alot more claimed light output, but I doubt many will match the quality of the Seca beam pattern.
Dibbs.
Yes, I agree, with the right optics/reflectors, less on-paper lumens can seem like more on the trail.
I'm looking into using Lux to describe light output.
My light, for example, is 70 lux at 10 metres, directly ahead of the light itself.

A mate of mine has one, the numbers don't look that impressive but it works superbly, basically just puts the light where you want it. Very good long throw without sacrificing short range. I'd not use one as a bar light, it doesn't seem that appropriate for the job. Much less flood/short range than my 2 P7 torches but better range.
I reckon a second, cheaper light on the bars would worthwhile to complement it but if I had money to burn I'd definately consider one.
